their legacy in 2026 is pretty weak compared to how big they used to be.
I rarely heard them mentioned anymore.
>>
>>130491612
They're like Coldplay. I mean what is there to talk about really
>>
>>130491612
Turns out that pushing your shitty new album that you made in your 50s onto everybody’s new device by default is a good way to make people not like you. They got way too into bed with Apple and the decline of their reputation was deserved.
>>
>>130491612
Their focus has completely shifted from music to politics. Many such TDS cases. Their recent EP is all about ICE. Fucking embarrassing. I guess there are no problems left in Ireland.
>>
>>130492332
Is TDS syndrome just Trumptards coping with the fact peole don't like Trump?
>>
>>130492348
Nah I'm the most left wing fucker on this board, I hate Trump and everything he stands for, but even to me some people's fixation on Trump looks completely bizarre and unhealthy. I remember having to enforce a "no Trump rule" in some social circles because some motherfuckers would just keep bringing him up randomly just to seethe about him again and again and again. I remember checking Mark Hamill's Twitter profile and seeing that he tweeted about Trump multiple times a day. TDS seems less bad now than it used to be back in the day but it definitely is a real thing that happens to some people

Bono is one of the most annoying musicians of all time, and people have caught on to how much of their music all sounds the same, especially post-Pop when they stopped even trying to switch things up and just started making every song sound like minor variations of Sunday Bloody Sunday and Where the Streets Have No Name.

Same with REM. They ruined their legacy with too many mid albums and too much touring.
>>
>>130492332
>>130492348
U2 has been firmly in the "mid" category since the 90s. When Apple tried to sell an iPod preloaded with U2 songs, everyone got mad.
>>
>>130491612
it was always just a cover for the international child sex trafficking ring that they're a part of.

i'm a certified unc at 30 and I don't know a single song from these people. Iooked up a "top 20 songs" list and I don't recognize a single one of them. I might have seen Vertigo on MTV as a kid because the MV looked similar. They have zero cultural relevance. I don't remember them from car radio, I had my 80s music phase and I never listened to a single U2 song. The algos don't even recommend them to you when you listen to 80s music.

I am 37 and 'Beautiful Day' used to play all the time on MTV. You are probably just a little bit too young to remember.

Long ago, in the crispy skies above Mount Gravy, Bono, the sunglasses-clad God of KFC, ruled with a greasy fist over the Golden Bucket of Eternal Chicken. This bucket was no mere vessel—it was said to contain the original 11 herbs and secrets of the universe, passed down by the Colonel himself in a flaming drumstick dream.

But trouble brewed in the indie heavens.

Radiohead, the glitchy titans of emotional dissonance, had grown hungry. Led by the cryptic warlock Thom Yorke, they cast lo-fi spells to steal tenders from Bono’s sacred supply, whispering lyrics like curses: "Everything in its right place… even your chicken.

Coldplay wasn't far behind. Chris Martin, wielding his piano like a battering ram, led a band of pastel crusaders to batter the Bucket—literally—with the beat of "Viva La Fried-a." They believed fried chicken was too mainstream for the gods and deserved to be reimagined as kale.

Furious, Bono descended from his Zinger chariot and called forth the mighty Waffle Wars of the Side Dishes, summoning coleslaw cyclones and biscuit meteors. The arena? The Flaming Drive-Thru of Olympus, guarded by statues of The Colonel weeping gravy tears.

But just as Bono struck Coldplay down with the power of a Double Down, a voice echoed through the steam.

Jim Morrison emerged from the mist of deep fryer oil, wearing a flame-broiled crown.

"You never saw the signs," he said, licking a suspiciously char-grilled Whopper. "I’ve always been with Burger King."

Bono's sunglasses cracked.

"But Jim," he gasped, "you sang about breaking on through..."

"Yeah," Jim smirked. "Breaking through to the flame-broiled side."

Suddenly, a black van labeled J.S.C. screeched across the clouds—Jewish Section of the CIA. Out stepped agents with gefilte grenades and espionage onions. Jim handed them a thumb drive shaped like a pickle.

"The Bucket is compromised," he whispered

Betrayed, battered, but still crispy at heart, Bono fled to a hidden bunker beneath a shuttered Long John Silver’s, vowing to return one day… with Popcorn Chicken vengeance.

The End…?

Or is it just the beginning of the Fast Food Pantheon War?

>>

no way, their entire mission and focus from the start was always to crack America first and the rest of the world would follow, they toured relentlessly and had hit arena's by the late 80s and stadiums by the early 90s, Zoo TV tour was the biggest of its day. One, Mysterious Ways and The Real Thing were on mtv as much as any grunge video in 92.
I can't stand their music either and the itunes thing turned a generation off them but its just rewriting history to claim they were never that big

They took The Police's spot as the no. 1 band in the world from 1987 to 1993. ZOOTV was the biggest rock show there ever was.

U2 was always astroturfed. Depeche Mode are better and are still making good music, they didn't have to sell their souls to reach the same levels U2 reached in the 90s

>>...we were so commited to chicken, we wanted for the belligerence on non chicken brands to end, especially the beef brands who were feeding people in drive thrus with burgers. We were so dissappointed to find out that Colonel Sanders, the head of KFC which is the head wing, of the, you know, fried chicken industry, was actually a hater of our song, Chicken Fried Chicken, which was meant as a PROTEST song against, like I said, against the sectarian conflict which everyone was tired of, at least in my own clucking mind. That's why I screamed out, if you see the concert in Colorado, "this is not a beef song", but for a good year since its release it was thought of as that, as a reminder of the beef conflict, because we conveniently named the song after the KFC, gave it a fried drum beat and waited for a year until it reached the top ten and we had secured a distribution deal for north America before we came out to clear things out. And look how relevant it is now with the conflict in the whole food industry .people are so caught up in their convictions, they forget the only real differences are in our hearts, they forget how important chicken is. And we're here to remind them. So yeah, it is one of those great misunderstood songs of rock history, like "Corn in the USA". I initially wanted to write a trilogy of it, but Edge threatened to quit the band if I did. He is a great fryer...and a good friend.

U2 were huge in America in like the late 80s/early 90s, then again around early 2000s. They played the Super Bowl and shit right after 9/11 and got shilled hard during that period. Steve Jobs also had a hard on for them so they were always in Apple promos (and famously had their album given away for free on every iphone in 2014)

i actually heard one song from it. not memorable musically and it barely sounds like them, but the lyrics are completely opposite of what happened. it was actually insulting to listen to as an informed adult because of how disingenuous the song is

You guys made this bed. If Trump wasn’t so absurdly hamstrung by investigation after impeachment over nothing in his first term, and was allowed to just be president, the Israel fatigue in the base would’ve crept in back in like 2017 and the Trump era would’ve been long over. But all you people have done for a decade straight is tell half the country that they are not allowed any representation under any circumstances, and you will kill or imprison them the moment they come within a half a mile of the smallest crumb of power. You are the primary driver of this. You dismantled the (facade of) legitimacy in American democracy and you’ll be living with the consequences of that for the rest of your life.
