Am I crazy or is this song just... bad. I don't listen to or like any pop music but people were telling me to give this a shot

It's actually almost somehow impressive how off the "heavy guitar" chorus section sounds, like it is the aesthetics of rock with none of the anything-else of rock, it has no anything to it, it's completely empty

Like how does Daniel Nigro make it sound so not-good and so boring in this way. Can anyone explain the music theory or whatever behind what makes it so off. Is it just way too straight/non-syncopated. or something?

She's good at singing of course but musically this is just not good, to me
>>
>why does it sound good
because its written in the feel good scale with a no commitment harmony and a chorus in the dark and heavy scale with the same harmony
lyrics that have only good timing
peak industrialization
>>
>"this is very definition of X"
Anyone who uses this phrase is 90iq. Equivocation is the sign of a midwit.

Did an LLM reply to me. What.
>>
>>130492633
I am not sure that that is equivocation exactly

What the fuck are you talking about why is everyone replying to me so oddly

I am asking what, theoretically speaking, makes this song sound so not-good in this particular way. I am even arguing with people on that Twitter thread saying it just sounds like ordinary pop and is very much not punk or rock or punk-rock or even punk-pop

Everyone, including myself, is dunking on the stupid tweet
>>
>>130492297
This is better than I expected, thanks OP I'll check out more of her stuff
>>
>>130492823
She's a good singer but pop music is just so lame and so compositionally trite and bad
>>
>>130492831
and you are claiming 3 chord punk rock is better?
>>
>>130492758
>it just sounds like ordinary pop and is very much not punk or rock or punk-rock or even punk-pop
I mean you can dislike it all you want but this is just cope lmao
>>
>>130492874
I don't know. I exclusively listen to electronic music like Autechre and stuff. I don't really know what punk rock is. I have not listened to other genres. I just know this pop stuff is quite bad.

>>130492917
Dude it's mainstream cliche generic stale top 40 pop music with some heavy somewhat distorted guitars in the chorus, that's it. Compositionally it is mainstream pop music
>>
>expecting normal replies with that woman in the OP
lol
lmao even
>>
>>130492932
I don't use /mu/ much. Do people here have some kind of fixation with her
>>
>>130492922
Why are you commenting on whether something is or isn't rock/punk when you don't even listen to either?
>>
>>130493071
Because I'm pretentious.
>>
No one ever called Blink-182 punk.
>>
>>130492297
Because it's very compressed, which makes the distorted guitar sound sound boring.
>>
>>130493285
Anon thank you for being the first to actually answer me
>>
I WANNA SEE OLIVIA’s RODRIGO
>>
>>130492297
Ok, congrats you don't have the taste of a 12 year old girl OP!
>>
>>130494780
Actually that is a good question: who is an example of a genuinely good musician/band who both 12-year-old girls and elitist veteran /mu/ autists both like
>>
>>130492297
it's just kind of not anything
>>
>>130492297
