Now that the dust has settled, what's the consensus?
>>
>>130492804
/mu/-core, so therefore I will ignore it and never listen to it
>>
>>130492854
Get off /mu/ then you smug prick
>>
amazing album, if you didn't have a life changing experience when you first heard the opener as a youth I'm sorry because for many of us that was a huge moment
>>
>>130492864
No, I will stay here to post about the Beatles or something
>>
Sounds like every other indie søyrock album
>>
>>130492804
Like the 30th best Elephant 6 album maybe
>>
Pedo tranny music.
Stomp clap hey ho
>>
it's a potato
>>
>>130492976
Shut up
>>
>>130492871
I feel bad for anons that didn't have an experience like mine
>be 18 hanging out with 16 year old girl I'm sorta dating
>we sit down on floor playing chess while I play albums
>put on Aeroplane
>...
>"what is this?"
>she proceeds to be blown away calling it some of the best music shes ever heard changing her life instantly
from then on she valued my taste tremendously and again and again I gave her great recs though rarely did they reach that same level, Built to Spill is another she loved, she knew Modest Mouse before that so it made sense those would appeal to her. Now shes my wife and mother of my kids, life went pretty well for this poverty riddled, loser kid that had best friends leave him behind time and time again, I'm still broke but I wake up with the love of my life every day and we still share music, she loves how much music impacts my life and soul
>>
Well it's no Money Store or Die Antwoord in terms of /mu/'s most hyped albums of all time
>>
>>130492907
>sounds like every other indie folk album
I can only presume that you either are a troll or you don't even listen to rock music, likely both. NMH set the grounds for indie folk but not one artist ever captured their sound even remotely and the rest of the elephant sex sounds very different aswell but they're at least pretty good in their own way like Apples and Olivia Tremor Control and Elephant 6

She was only 16 you sick fuck
>>
>>130493049
Goddamn you people are easy to bait
t. not even him
>>
>>130492976
not remotely like stomp clap music though that genre was inspired by Arcade Fire which owes a lot to NMH. Mangum has an enormous amount of attitude, balls, and bitterness that comes through his music like no other indie folk artist
>>
Overrated but not a bad album at all.

Two Headed Boy Pt 2 is great
>>
>>130492951
Apples in Stereo are better
>>
>>130493609
Fun Trick Noisemaker is amazing but thats the only one that lives up to Aeroplane

>>130493189
i wouldn't doubt the novices of today would sincerely believe that

>>130492951
name 5 better elephant 6 albums, I know plenty of the scenes music and I'd love to hear what you think is somehow stronger than what to everyone else is the strongest lp of the scene, like I said above Fun Trick Noisemaker is definitely as good
>>
>>130493591
I find the praise for Two Headed Boy odd, I love the song and love it for the album but it completely lacks the string accompaniment that makes the album special, like King Carrot pt 1 is so great because of each progressive verse as the other layers slowly come in with their respective beautiful melodies, 2 headed boy is awesome (and I love pt 2 aswell, especally the new section thats not in 1) but I'm gonna take stuff like the title track with the weird theremin or bowed saw because it makes for a much fuller song, the opener has just as strong of emotion but with the perfect added layers, i imagine most fans of 2 headed boy don't care for the heavy rock parts of the LP

Legitimately one of the greatest pieces of art ever created by human beings.
>>
>>130492804
I know people aren't ready to hear this but I think that really is a scalloped potato. Scholarship 50-100 years from now will support my view.
>>
>>130493026
i fucked her
>>
It's an album that can be associated with NPR and cardigan-wearing college students.
>>
>>130493026
This reminds me of an ex. When we broke up, she took my Foxygen records and my Flesh Panthers 7".
>>
One of the highlights of the New Sincerity trend that moved things away from the cynical and nihilistic 90s but brought a culture of emotionality and folkish revival that eventually materialised in stomp-clap-hey.
>>
it's pretty cool
>>
>>130493649
Dusk at Cubist Castle
Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?
Black Foliage
Tone Soul Evolution
On Avery Island
>>
I like jeffs songwriting and Its a good album but it massively overshadowed other elephant 6 acts coming out around the same time. The minders hey for Tuesday for example.
>>
>>130496922
Its also funny that nmh were proto-hipster
