>WAAAAHHHH IM A MILLIONARE ROCK STAR BUT MY FANS DONT ACTUALLY KNOW OR CARE ABOUT ME PERSONALLY WAAHHHHHH
>>130493193Yes.
>>130493193that's not what he said there at all… It's a really simple but beautiful album. Not as deep as people say, but also far from pretentious. It's about building mental mechanisms that drive you away from your loved ones, and those mechanisms or functions are also making you go crazy, get in meds, etc. And it's usually a stupid and stubborn premise that made you "build the wall" in the first place. Sometimes it may involve concatenated trauma (in the album, the dad abandoning him, bad experience in school, women leaving him, etc), but it's always a decision, and often a spiteful one, where you choose darkness, thinking the lightness of other people or the world (grace) will prevent that from happening. Eventually he held a trial with his own mind, and was sentenced to be exposed, by tearing those mechanisms down and being naked, basically. Then in "outside the wall", he found that the real ones were waiting for him, although some couldn't bear "banging their hearts against his wall", so they "staggered and fell".The most beautiful and trascendent song, though, is The Thin Ice imo:>If you should go skating>On the thin ice of modern life>Dragging behind you the silent reproach>Of a million tear stained eyes>Don't be surprised, when a crack in the ice>Appears under your feet>You slip out of your depth and out of your mind>With your fear flowing out behind you>As you claw the thin iceIt's a shame people are so performative and disregard this album and band overall when it's a classic for a reason.
>>130494410the only part i dont like is the whole part where he becomes a fascist dictator.
>>130494424why?
>>130494424but those songs are fun
>>130494466i dont know its very campy. i know the entire album is campy. and i know it fits with rogers' artistic vision (his entire career is "fighting" against what he believes to be fascism). It's an important piece of the album but I think it's the weakest point. I guess I connected a lot with the album at a certain point in my life except for that part.>>130494503I'd say only Run Like Hell. In the Flesh is okay and Waiting for the Worms is probably the worst song. Some people connected a lot with that part, I didn't
>>130494424AND THIS ONES A COON
>>130494410The wall metaphor doesn't work only on that level."Another brick in the wall" refers to the modern system trying to turn you into just a unit, a neutralised cell that fits the system's own inner workings and purposes. So tearing down the wall is not just about someone's inner defences, the album is not just about social relationships. But also this society-as-a-machine thing, which is a bit of a Kaczynski vibe.
>>130493193man I miss being 15
>>130493193This slop really is just a Queen album with Pink Floyd on the cover. Just shows once again that Syd was the soul of the band and they went to shit when they forced him out.
>>130493193Roger Waters didnt have a father. There, I just gave you the answer on why he is a pussy
>>130498313not having a father doesnt make you a pussy
>>130498421in general
>>130494410Correct answer. It's kinda what OP tried to said in a different way.
>>130498421It's a complex thing.Boys do need a strong masculine archetype to look up to.Could be a grandparent, older brother or even an artist; hopefully not a drug addict.
