I love Naked City and John ZornAnyone else love Naked City ? These albums are awesome ... I was sad to discover that Zorn's Masada albums didnt really scratch the same itch... although I did enjoy them as wellIm making my way through his Filmworks now, theyre definitely interesting but nothing as great as these albumsAnyone have any recommendations ?

>>130494897liked that too, but their drawn out ambient stuff feels a little repetitive ... he did similar stuff in naked city, too, with Absinthe and Leng Tch'e
>>130494846Judaism and jazz, twin degeneracies. Listen to WAGNER, to clean your soulz and cultivate warrior spirit with iceman breathing. SEIG HEIL!
rockist needs his jazz to be LE CHAOS or else
This is required listening if you haven't listened to it yet. It's not as jazzcore/grindcore-y as Naked City so you may not like it if that's all you're looking for. Also put on the Naked City album Torture Garden if you haven't heard that one already.Once you get bored of Zorn, you can listen to OG free jazz like Ornette Coleman, one of Zorn's idols.
>>130494846Opposite for me. I love Zorn’s ethno-jazz stuff but couldn’t care less about most of his grindcore bullshit.
>>130499861That's my favorite stuff too (pic rel is an excellent example of that) but sometimes I'm in the mood for spazzy fun and I like that Zorn is capable of both styles.

>>130499800Ornette is great, I've also found much Zorn-tier enjoyment in Brotzmann's stuffI wish i could put a finger on what it actually is that makes it so good, stuff just makes me freak out
>>130499800This one's great, couldn't get into naked city and that stuff. Some masada albums(one is called bar kokba I think)are great as are the dreamers albums(s/t and O'o), nice dreamy/easy listening jazz
