its an accurate descriptor

this demographic morphed into the "superwholock" tumblr demographic in the mid 2010s, today the overly earnest marvel/DND fans

>be me, in high school
>good friend of mine got his drivers license early and I was too lazy to get mine
>he'd give me rides home from school every day even though I lived further out of town than he did
>we'd stop at Walgreens to get Monsters every day
>while driving home he'd play band nerd music
>it was like electroswing, Pink Floyd, Daft Punk, Metallica, video game soundtracks
>some Fridays I'd just go to his house and we'd play Xbox all night
>stopped seeing him after the school year ended
>he sent mass texts to all his friends about how he wanted to cut himself, wanted to die, etc etc
>I never replied and never spoke to him again

I'm sorry I wasn't a better friend when you needed me to be, Blaine. But I hope you're doing well these days. Thanks for always being a bro and making that time of my life more fun.

No it didn't. The electroswing dorks were men. The Superwholock freaks were women.

The idea of combining old-timey music with digital technology isn't inherently worthless, what would something like electroswing sound like if it was done right instead of being reddit slop?
>>
>>130503279
>if it was done right
that's the issue, right there

>>130501082
>Why does this genre induce such seethe in people

because it's a perfectly good and VALID idea to take great old swing songs and give them an 'update' of sorts, if only to make them more palatable to our jaded modern ears...
in theory, that would be great, but in practice... i heard it work well maybe once or twice?

now, is it because it's only been done by people who are lazy, or not creative enough? too shallow, just for cash so no effort?
that part remains unclear to me... but the fact that it's such an open bar idea and it's been done so poorly, that is why it's a lot more infuriating than many other subgenres
>>
>>130503376
The swing revival idea was also already tried in the 90s by the tiki bar bowler shirt type guys - Cherry Poppin Daddies, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy etc

Jealousy.
Pure and simple.
People detest those less miserable than themselves.

...of what? It's just a genre that oozes lameness no matter how hard it tries.
>>
>>130500848
I don't even fully agree, but this is an underrated insult
