Why is it so hard for certain fanbases to have a discussion about music without invariably having a cry about some other genre of "not music"?Rock fans whining about rap and rap fans whining about EDM immediately come to mind.
>>130506612Because people take all their self worth and identity from their taste in music. So then their taste ends up being something that needs to be aggressively defended and better than other people's taste
>>130509511This but rock and white people
>>130507161I agree somewhat but i think it might also be the fact that your dislike for anything is easily shown online which contributes to a persons idea of an 'identity', probably moreso than being a 'fan' of a certain thing. Also sterotyping people like that doesnt really work in the real world. Lotsa retards online tho, cant fault OP there
>>130506612Rockists aren't music fans for the most part. They listen to only rock because that was the "default" genre when they were growing up. That is what "music" is to them and they're filtered by anything that sounds the slightest bit different. Hip-hop and, to a lesser extent, pop draw most of their ire on here for political reasons, but IRL they're just as likely to sperg out at country, EDM, metal, jazz, or even newer generations of rock from after their childhood. Their most infamous spergout was against disco.

>>130506612Wanting to identify with a 'fanbase' is childish, and people in them are lonely, so they try to mark others as inferior outsiders to signal status within the in-group
>>130509552This but it's mostly limited to Americans and the cretins who suck American butthole.>>130506612Serious answer: nobody cares about what you think or what you prefer. Absolutely nobody. Your clothes, your haircut, your music, your style of pizza, whether you drink alcohol or not. You name it - nobody cares. It doesn't matter. None of us matter to anyone. With one exception: when we can be used. Once you realise it's about being used, you'll look at it from an entirely different perspective. Watch Dead Poets' Society with Robin Williams if you haven't. Good luck.
