Is there any direct quote from Stephen Hillenburg saying he was inspired by The Mollusk? I know Ween played the Loop de Loop song. I know there are a few very loose references to Ween in the show (wandering eye). I know Ocean Man plays at the end of the movie. However, I cannot find a single quote from Hillenburg saying he was inspired by The Mollusk. All I can find is Ween saying he was inspired by them. Ween claims that he called them and said he was wanted to make a show inspired by The Mollusk. This quote is from AFTER his death, when he could not refute the claim. Here is where I find this story doesn't make sense. The pilot "Help Wanted" was done by early June 1997 and pitched that summer. Wikipedia says it was completed by June 3. The Mollusk didn't release until June 24 1997. How could he possibly been inspired by The Mollusk? Did they just make this shit up after his death?
>>130507686>Is there any direct quote from Stephen Hillenburg saying he was inspired by The Mollusk?as far as i know, no. but i don't think the band would lie about something like that. in an old fan web interview and a post on ween's official facebook page following stephen hillenburg's passing, it's mentioned that hillenburg had called the band a long time ago to say he'd been inspired by the mollusk and wanted to create a bugs bunny style cartoon set at the bottom of the ocean
>>130507846Yes, I know. However, this quote is from after his death. And all evidence points to the show already being conceptualized and production started before The Mollusk even released. There is no quote of Hillenburg himself saying this. Anywhere. Very weird.
>>130507861>this quote is from after his deaththe archive page for the fan interview goes as far back as 1st of november 2013, and the whole story is the same word for word
>>130507878This? It's some random blog Dean ran that offers zero proof and I don't lend it much credibility. He claims they references Ween many times on the show....like what? I also find it suspicious that he was so inspired by them yet the Loop de Loop song appears only at the end of season 2. You would think it would have been early season 1 if he was that inspired. No news outlets picked up on it until after his death. There is not a single quote from HILLENBURG himself. That is what I am asking. Ween just seems to be blowing smoke up their own ass. http://036271e.netsolhost.com/WordPress/2012/10/18/one-of-our-proudest-achievements/

>>130507990Kill yourself you pathetic wannabe janny
>>130507904Honestly who gives a shit? It's a good album with or without spongebob, it definitely inspired me not to kill myself so there's that.
>>130508425I never said it was a bad album. Ween claims it launched a 15 billion dollar empire and I'm calling that into question. The creator never once explicitly said this. We have to go on the words of Ween, who we can see are clearly unreliable. Like >>130507904 ... used Ween many times in the show and referenced them many times?
>>130507686You’re still ruminating on this? You aren’t going to rewrite history.
>>130507686If all this surfaced after he died then how come I heard about this before he died?
>>130508475Rewrite? Show me the history of Hillenburg saying this for me to even rewrite.
>>130508493Does it need to have been recorded to have happened?
>>130508514He never once mentioned Ween as inspiration. He never once mentioned The Mollusk as inspiration. The show was being pitched before The Mollusk even released. Ween's song appears at the end of season 2 despite Ween claiming Stephen called them before even starting the show to tell them he was inspired by them and asked them to write a song. All we have is Ween's word. Which is clearly unreliable. It seems like they are just blowing smoke up their own ass. There is zero quote from the actual creator.
>>130508534Why are you so mad about this?

>>130508583You made a whole thread complaining days after you complained in a different thread.
>>130508597I think you might be schizophrenic because you are imagining scenarios in your head that never happened. I'm just pointing out inconsistencies.
>>130508611Lmao, you’re insane dude.
>>130508675You can't provide a single quote from Hillenburg. That's all I'm asking for. It's very simple. It really shouldn't be hard to find a quote of him saying "Yeah, The Mollusk is cool" or something. This seems to really be agitating you lol.
>>130507686Hillenburg was a fan of the band and he really liked the album, but that's about it. The influence they or that record had on his show is merely speculative.
>>130508695Dawg, I don’t have to prove shit. You need to do the work if you want to justify your claim that is the opposite of what is currently accepted, and absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
>>130508849I have. The show was being pitched before The Mollusk released. That alone proves that The Mollusk was not the inspiration. I'm asking for a singular quote from the creator even mentioning the album or the band to maybe offset these inconsistencies....which you cannot provide.
1996
>>130508000Nigga you are litigating the history of spongebob on a music forum
>>130509755Yes. The band claims that this album inspired a 15 billion dollar cartoon empire. I'm asking for one single quote from the creator that backs this claim up, or even him just mentioning the band. He was pitching the show before the album released so it doesn't make sense.
hillenburg came up with the idea for spongebob on some other show he worked on like rockos modern life or whatever, and it was going to be called "spongeboy"
>>130507686I'm the anon that pointed this out in the other thread about the album. Glad to see people finally realizing that it's just a lie spread by zoomers.
