At this point they are severely underrated. Not eniough shitty love songs, i guess.
>>130518399It's more that every other major rock band is severely overrated
>>130518447>every other major rock bandIt's just Beatles. In 10 more years people would think that they were the only 60s band.
>>130518399I think the things they were writing about, especially in the Lifehouse and Quadrophenia era, are especially relevant to today's legions of frustrated and alienated young men, but to a lot of zoomers it still just sounds like moldy old dadrock from a different time.
>>130518596Quadrophenia resonated to me so much when I was 17, and I'm not even british.
>>130518399they just didn't age well
>>130518730That's retarded. Other than maybe Pink Floyd, their lyrical themes aged far better than any of their classic rock contemporaries. Their music isn't just mindless cock rock either.
>>130518399https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gbw2ygR2UCUthis song made me like the who
>>130518730The vocals, maybe.
spiritual angst is cringe unc, might as well write a shitty 80 minute rock opera about tge flying spagetti monster
>>130518399What about My Wife?>>130519209talk about cringe...
>>130519239if you think thats bad, you should hear tommy. the movie with elton john trying to suck off a autistic kid was somehow less gay than the original album
They're not a riff rock band like Sabbath, Zepp, Hendrix, Cream, etc or a vocal hook band like CCR, U2, or Queen. They're somewhere in the middle. They've always been their own thing, and it's especially tough to put them in a box because their 60s pop singles and 70s rock are quite different. Very difficult to cover as well, especially Tommy and beyond.
>>130518730what about magic bus
>>130520011Too much "too much magic bus".
>>130520280too much of anything is too much for me
Lifehouse would've made them more legendary
It's annoying that Pete tainted them with his researching
Its almost like a generation with no attention span that considers listening to an album as "marathoning" doesnt have the patience to evaluate a band who has 3 great concept albums not about getting pussy. Who's Next probably survives because the original concept was largely abandoned so normies can just listen to it.
This was one of the first songs I learned on guitar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVViLyuu24sGreat band
Moon was a terrible drummer
>>130518399Too many great songs not on album makes their 60s output look weaker than it actually is.
>>130520661thats why meaty beaty big and bouncy is the jam of a lifetime
>>130520865Might be their best release as a result.
>>130520865You may already know, but the first Rarities album from the 80s does a good job at collecting the outtakes from the 60s, and The Who Sell Out box from a few years back does a good job at collecting the outtakes from Sell Out and the aborted Who's for Tennis album.https://www.discogs.com/master/109042-The-Who-Rarities-Vol1-1966-1968https://www.discogs.com/release/17778550-The-Who-The-Who-Sell-Out
>>130521221I've listened to the Sell Out box but not the Rarities album, Ill check it , that era is great and pretty nuts compared to what most of their contemporaries were doing at the time
The whole smashing instruments thing they did is so fucking gay i will never give them a proper listen.
>>130521974I hate you
>>130521980That brings me joy.
Theyre honestly still a bit overrated, influence does not equal quality
>>130522005>does not equal qualityLiterally the most individually talented band of all time
>>130522128Except for Moon
>>130523579midwit take
I love the Who various tracks from their albums up to mid 70s, lately its Helpless Dancer from quadrophenia>and when a man tries to change>it only causes him further pain
