A significant number of people (not necessarily those who attend their shows) are gonna just fucking loathe them now because of JG being an Israel shill during the most video'd & recorded atrocity in human history. They've always had a bit of a snooty vibe some people dislike (similar to BCNR more recently) and this on top has them in a similar position to Coldplay in the 2000s except this time instead of Chris Martin being hated just for being too pleasant and gentle a person to take seriously as a cool modern rock frontman, there's actually a valid reason. Idk that it would necessarily translate into a boycott successfully, I doubt it, but it's a certainty the press circuit and social media / interactions with fans and at gigs would take a lot of fun out of it for Thom, it's exactly the sort of stuff that makes him get pissy/anxious historically and he's mostly past wanting to translate bad mental health times into art like OKC/Kid A at his age
