Fender is finally dead edition

Strats and Teles suck anyway. What a time to be alive to see it all die.
Fenderfags need to leave forever.

Hey. How do I replace a pickup selector in my guitar? I mean replace because I broke the plastic stick thingy. Most of the guides are for some meme sound quality improvements. Model is Washburn Dime, I suck at playing but I'd prefer it functioning.
>>
>>130528595
Buy a replacement and solder it in. Get a soldering iron on ali express
>>
>>130528615
Soldering is not a problem, I guess I should take the old one out first to know the dimensions. It was a 3 way switch, looks like $5 on said aliexpress

soldering iron from ali is fine but hardware is another thing, just know youll probably have to replace it again at some point or deal with some crackle when you change pickups. Usually worth hitting up a music store and paying extra to never deal with that shit again
>>
>>130528918
considering theyre going after PRS, an american company, everyone is goibg to have ro deal with this shit. Luckily PRS was the ones that made gibson eat shit when they tried this and they said theyll fight this one too
>>
>>130529012
PRS makes far better guitars than gibson or fender. Honestly they should just officially loisence them to make guitars for them at this point since they do a better job anyway. Just give up.

Can someone explain how you go from a chord progression to a full song?
How exactly do you know what/when you're going to be singing when you write out the progression or is it more of an iterative process

I sing random words over it and then go to the relative minor for the different section or walk down through the major scale.

Couldn't be me, I write instrumental music. The start is different each time, sometimes it starts with a bass line, sometimes with a chord progression, a melody, a drum pattern... What follows is different for everyone, personally I iterate until I have maybe 3-6 sections for the song with every instrument being busy, map out a structure, then arrange by removing clutter from each section.

I’m gonna sell all my Fender stuff because I don’t agree with them as a company anymore. My Jag and Mustang are already gay guitars so they can go, I’m gonna miss my Teles and Strats but I just don’t want to be associated with the company anymore and don’t want to be seen with the Fender logo on my headstocks. not to mention acoustics of course

you need to hear the melody in your head. when you get more advanced you can hear the progression in your head too. good songs typically start with the lyrics because they come from the heart, but if you’re working backwards hum a melody that sounds right and has good timing and then start putting words into it. that’s how Rocky Top by the Osborne brothers was written. They had the progression and melody for a long time but couldn’t think of lyrics

WA Deep Six has a blend/mix knob. you can alter the attack to fully remain your base sound while reinforcing the ends. Also you can use it a as a boost pedal. Dyna Comps are a lot less versatile and tend to buzz.

Fender never provided objective criteria that one could use to determine whether a given guitar design violates their copyright. At what point is a guitar similar enough to a Strat to be considered a copy?

>But how does a regional court justify the artistic nature of a piece of milled alder wood? The Düsseldorf chamber was apparently inspired by the piece itself: The rounded basic form, the ruling states, evokes associations with a female torso consisting of hips, waist, and arms; the asymmetrical lines create the impression of a dynamic tilt, “comparable to a dancer leaning to one side”; the left horn, which extends further out, is reminiscent of an arm and reinforces the stretching motion. One might recognize in this unexpected outpouring a separate sub-farce within the main farce: A German patent chamber stands before a mass-produced utility guitar and revels as if beholding a Degas sculpture. What the chamber interprets as a dancer leaning to one side is, historically speaking, simply the result of two saw cuts in the Fullerton workshop. Studio guitarist Bill Carson had complained that the angular Telecaster pressed into his ribs when - he sat down; two bold swings of the band saw subsequently carved out hollows for his stomach and forearm. The legally extolled grace of the Stratocaster, viewed under studio lights, has orthopedic origins.
The whole argumentation is flawed.
>>
>>130531510
That's a Telecaster, you muppet. And the picture does not clarify which parts are being patented. And you can't copyright patents. Are the strings part of the patent? Are the strap buttons?

From the cursory research I've done, what Fender has argued to German courts is that the Strat is a work of "Applied Art". The copyright act makes a distinction between what are known as "Useful Articles" and the artistic representation of those articles (A lamp base for example may be ornamented, but the ornamentation does not impact the functionality of the lamp itself, this the lamp is a useful article, but the lamp base is an applied artwork). Someone who owns the copyright to the lamp base may not interfere in the production of the lamp itself but does have the right to demand their design be removed from the base of the lamp.

The reason why it sounds like their arguments are vague is because that's pretty much how copyrighted works with regards to artwork is, typically it's determined that a piece of artwork is a copyright violation if it's clearly meant to mimic an existing piece of artwork and infringe on their market. For example, depicting a stratocaster in a cartoon would not strictly be a copyright violation, since the original work in question was for a physical electric guitar body, but manufacturing a real guitar that is clearly meant to look like a stratocaster is a violation of the copyright of the applied artwork itself, as lawyers can argue that it's a deceptive practice directly interfering with their ability to sell guitars in some markets.

If this makes your anus bleed, then it probably means you've never actually made anything of value in your entire life. No offense. Copyright is granted to artists by default upon the creation of a given piece of artwork, and you wouldn't want someone stealing your artwork either if you believe it's fucking up your ability to make a living.

Are you able to adjust the pickup height or is it like my knockoff? bolted straight on to the body
i picked up one of these years ago.
'indie' branded 12-string thing that i paid like 200 bucks for from another guitarist flogging it at my rehersal studio. not bad for something i use so little
it's a lot of fun to play acoustically but the mini buckers sound pretty rough through just about anything other than totally clean sounds.
it plays great and surprisingly stays in tune, frets are solid 10/10 would cheap out again

>>130533830
If they’re Rickenbacker pickup sized you can get pickups straight from them for like $100 a pop assuming they’ll drop in a knock off. With it being cheap tho who cares, you can hack whatever you want to fit so long as it sounds good

The rest of the EQ section is before any amplification and, crucially, before the distortion happens. Presence is an active treble control that lets you boost or cut high mids and treble AFTER distortion adds its higher harmonics. If you turn this up and the gain down a bit, you get distorted sounds but without the low end mud. High gain and low presence is good for mellow lead tones with lots of midrange
