Aphrodite's Child and Magma are probably the most "it's just too much" prog bands for me.
Anything beyond kC is stretching it for a numpty like me.

I don't get the hate for GG and ELP. GG were a very song-oriented and straightforward band, and the power and the glory is their most consistent album. The songs are short, the drumming is almost entirely straight-forward 4/4 stuff, it's funky (in an eccentric way) and there's a unifying theme that's pretty heavy handed.Tarkus sounds like a JRPG boss soundtrack, so I cannot understand how people can dismiss it as virtuosistic and boring. It seems pretty accessible and fun to me, like JRPG soundtracks typically are.What I am more annoyed by is KC 13 minute songs where they have it devolve into incoherency or add a 1:30 of noise at the beginning of the track. I also don't get when these bands glued together unrelated musical sections to make a 20 minute track.
