is music regressing in general?
>>
>music
Not music
>>

thanks for the bump incel
>>
one day /mu/ will realize that the music industry does not necessarily need "good music" to be financially successful
>>
>rap music now
>lyrics from a song that's over 10 years old

Holy shit go to bed unc
>>
I enjoyed Outkast's lyrics and that's about it for rap.
>>
>>130528649
Not really. What's changed is people's consumption habits and the lack of a industry to curate what people see.
There is plenty of intelligent music being made still, but when given the choice, people will consume slop.
Also the fact that a play in Uganda act as much toward the popularity mertric as one in Monaco distorts things significantly.
>>130528719
Also this. Tequila was a massive hit despite being utter shit 68 years ago.
>>
>>130528649
hype moments & aura>all.
>>
>>130528649

No.
You get the music you deserve.
>>
>>130528649
are the lyrics on the left meant to be impressive?
>>
It's just cherrypicking good examples from the past and shit examples from now. Most of music nostalgia works like that, generally (though not always) it's the good artists from the past who get remembered, while from new music you get exposed to shit artists too.
Now try comparing some lame minor league rapper from the 90s to, say, Kendrick Lamar.

I mean, at least pick a good rapper like Kanye instead of the hack who unironically said "1-2-3-4-5, I'm the greatest rapper alive."

>>130528649
Cook

No one unironically likes his music

people are regressing in general because smart people tried changing the world too fast and stupid people couldn't keep up and started being loud and annoying about it
>>
>>130532982
No one remembers Jane's Addiction and if they do they only remember 2 songs at most.

I said a hip-hop, the hippie, the hippie
To the hip, hip-hop and you don't stop the rockin'
To the bang-bang boogie, say up jump the boogie
To the rhythm of the boogie, the beat

Now, what you hear is not a test, I'm rappin' to the beat
And me, the groove, and my friends are gonna try to move your feet
You see, I am Wonder Mike and I'd like to say hello
A to the black, to the white, the red and the brown, the purple and yellow
But first, I gotta bang-bang the boogie to the boogie
Say up jump the boogie to the bang-bang boogie
Let's rock, you don't stop
Rock the rhythm that'll make your body rock
>>

Don't be a cunt

You did make me laugh though

"our system thinks your post is spam" fuck off

rap lyrics definitely have regressed, but if the point for you is to try and enjoy stuff then don't go looking for shit that isn't there, of course you'll be disappointed
A lot of pop stars have just been a face and character on top of a team of producers/writers and we've long since accepted that. At best in those cases you can credit their taste sometimes, but otherwise we judge the overall product. Just gotta look at modern rap the same way. It's production + a character most of the time now. Is what it is, can tap in or out

>No one remembers Jane's Addiction
they were still touring regularly up until last year when perry had a melty onstage. and they have been on the R&R hall of fame ballots a few times

You roll a hundred niggas deep but not one of ya got a gun
I bust one shot, you see a hundred niggas run
Dressed in all black Gore-tex, with four TECs
We all war vets, I'm takin' all bets to see who can score next
I burn you like raw sex, you just a small threat
Wit' a small set, so forfeit, I'm out for more checks
Cuz whatever that it takes to make these papes, I'mma walk this
I'm worthless, I'm back to sellin' cracks behind the churches
I hurt this when I work this, I’ll beat you fuckin' senseless
'Cause sleepin' on the benches got me swingin' at the fences
I bring it down like gravity with a ghetto mentality
To feel the agony of the Afficial Nastee Armee strategy
The hell with wounds, I won't leave a scratch to patch
This is war, way worse than a grudge match

Big P.I., no one's bolder, a universal solider
Chump, shoulda listen when I told ya
I'm ill, like Fire Marshall Bill, insane
Flip, squash and kill, lyrics burn like acid, baby
Born in the gutter, buck wild, far from butter
A bugged thug, I used to mug with the rug cutter
Rugged and raw, ready for some hardcore
More mighty than Thor, always aiming for a faggot jaw
So hard rocks that's fillin' flocks, clear the block
My mic's a Glock, I keep plenty styles in stock
The way emcees react when I attack
Get me away from him, he's a maniac

It's a conspiracy, I've been framed
They call me "Nigga" so much, startin to think it's my name
Light skinned and ashamed (Yeah), cuz way back in the days
They raped my grandmother's mothers, when they was enslaved (Fucked up)
They hung my grandfather if he misbehaved
But my ancestors was brave and most of them real
Stronghard black sweaty slaves workin' in the fields
400 years later, I learned about my roots
And how they traded in they white sheets, for badges and blue suits
So I'm taking recruits to set the fuckin' score right and start a fight
A fight, a nigga and a white
And if the nigga don't win then we all jump in
