Which DAW does /mu/ use for their music production?
>>
Audacity
>>
Logic because I would rather kill myself than use Windows and Logic is only 200 bucks (or was at the time) and comes with free updates and is not a subscription
>>
MTV music generator for PS1
>>

Logic (and GarageBand before that) are the only thing keeping me using this stupid fucking chud company's (Apple) hardware. I wish there was an open-source rip-off version for Linux or Windows. My FagBook is old af and falling apart and I don't really want to get another one.
I want to learn Ableton and/or FL Studio. I like FL Studio's drum sequencer UI, but don't like how it works with guitars.
>>
>>130550967
Renoise for sure
>>
>>130550994
fpbp
>>
>>130551849
Apple hardware is actually good now though
>>
>>130550967
Lmms for making some weirder sounds, ableton for some pitching and stretching modulation and other random stuff i cant do in FL and then usually composing in FL and then mixing and mastering the finished stems in reaper
>>
>>130551884
It's still expensive though
>>
Reaper
>>
>>130551849
Apple hardware is amazing though. That's part of the appeal
Having a nice Mac with Logic is about as good a setup as one can get
>>
>>130551886
Surely there's a program that can do all that in one program without the need for so many right?
>>
>>130551922
i used reaper during my poorfag phase but the others are just so much more user friendly
>>
>>130552009
Each has speciific things i like, i dont need to be chained to one
>>
>>130552687
just curious if you used that workflow because you like it or because there isn't a program that can support it
sounds like you just like it
>>
Cubase, because 1) it's been used for/by producers/arstists/albums I like, 2) I have a soft spot for underdogs, 3) I didn't like Reaper; and 4) I dislike most Trap/Hiphop/Rap so I wanted to use something that's not normally used for that kind of music.
>>
>>130554112
isn't cubase super expensive?
>>
>>130550967
Abelton on a new laptop
Ancient version of Pro Tool HD with ilok, 192 io interface, and Digidesign Control 24 console on an OLD Mac Pro
>>
>>130554326
~$400 during black friday for the most expensive version. As for the differentiator factor (big DAWs have small things that make them 2% different to the rest), I think Cubase for Cubase is midi expressions.
>>
>>130554453
is that good or bad? how much do these programs cost? i have been using reaper's forever trial for years
>>
>>130554611
honestly, if you like Reaper then there's no need to switch. For the price I paid for Cubase, the only thing I got that Reaper doesn't have are included sounds, virtual instruments and effects. But you can get those 3rd party anyway. As I mentioned in my first post, the number 1 reason for me to get it was because some of the artists I follow use it (in particular one guy called Owane which I've been enjoying at the time of me looking for a DAW)

>Garageband
Poorfag DAW
>Ableton
Tranny DAW
>FL Studio
Zoomer DAW
>Logic Pro
Actual professional musician/producer giga based aryan CHAD DAW
>Reaper
Poorfag DAW
>Pro Tools

>Cubase
Cube BASED DAW
>>
>>130555198
sounds like logic and cubase are the white man's daws
>>
>>130550967
fl studio because the piano roll scale tools are really useful
>>
>>130556190
>i cant transpose scales on my own
Why even make music
>>
>>130557014
I use FL and this gotta be the most retarded reason to stick with the DAW. I’m honestly just accustomed to it atp and like the workflow. I want to start branching out though but I haven’t had the chance.
>>
>>130550967
Luna and ableton (white man’s choice)
>>
>>130550994
This. I just plug in my synth and guitar with line-in and I'm set.

Which one has one a decent piano roll and would be ideal for synth based stuff? FL Studio had a good piano roll but everything else sucked ass.
>>
>>130552705
>sounds like you just like it
Yeah it's just bits and pieces of each i know can bring some fun sounds or interesting glitches or whatever.
I tend to push things til they break. Safer to have multiple options
>>
>>130557570
Cont. Also due to yohohoing the stuff, i cant run 64bit vsts on FL so i run them on ableton or reaper
>>
Audacity for basic editing like chopping samples and Reaper for everything else
>>
>>130557599
Is piano roll and instrument plugins decent in Reaper or pretty shit? I haven't tried using Reaper for anything beyond mixing in about 10 years now kek.
>>
>>130557670
>instrument plugins
Just download whatever vst you want
>>
>>130557713
Yeah, I just mean how support was and if you have to mess around with it to make it work right. It was terrible when I was using it.
>>
>>130550967
Ableton for the MIDI capabilities and customization. Also it's just what I'm good at now. Reason is based for re-wire though
>>
>>130557670
>>130557713
This and free too. I use OB-Xd synth a lot and Sitala for my drums.
>>
i have one of them, which one i won't say, and i don't see the need to buy all of them just to collect shit
>>
>>130559138
>buy
Fucking kek
>>
i dont use daw it has to sound rihgt in one take or i scrap it
>>
>>130559175
what music did you make and what tool did you use?
>>
>>130559229
Fuck off fed bot not catching charges lmao
>>
>>130559193
You can use a daw to arrange and compose recorded parts of the song. If you do not want to, you don't have to make the sound listenable, but i dont see why not.
The comment probably stems from not knowing what daws can be used for.
It's not just autotune
>>
>>130559264
im not retarded
just uninterested
>>
>>130559345
Awesome. Great to see such enthusiasm.
Music is alive guys!
This guy's gonna fix it all in one take!
>>
>>130559351
stay mad
>>
>>130559430
Stay depressed
>>
>>130559442
projecting
>>
>>130559484
Im not the one saying im uninterested in learning a daw in a thread about daws
Fuck did you even post >>130559193 for
>>
>>130550994
why the fuck whould anyone use Audacity over abelton or fl
>>
>>130559500
is not using daw not an option?
why does this make you seethe and mald?
>>
>>130559517
Lol bet you make horrendous electronic music
>>
>>130559547
sorry
i didnt realize youre a schizo
>>
What did they use before DAWs? Just tape they cut up?
>>
>>130560070
Look into analog audio recording, mixing and mastering
>>
>>130560070
they just sang directly into each others ear real loud
that's why so many older people are deaf
>>
>>130560070
>tape they cut up
That was industrial
>>
>>130552634
Skill issue
>>
>not a single reason user
heh I guess not everyone can be high IQ sound designer, keep forgetting about that
>>
>>130551884
It has fucking ARM now, so no
But it's more of /g/ alley

>>130551134
Based madman
>>
>>130550994
audacity would be the greatest free software ever if it had quantization
>>
Probably im the only one, but I use mixcraft.
>>
>>130551889
a used macbook air m1 is $400
>>130560542
works for me
>>
>>130550967
FL studio 11
>>
>>130560509
Reason? more like No Reason, cause there's no reason to use this piece of shit over other DAW's
>>
I only use Bitwig
>>
It went like this: FL > Pro Tools (forced to use that shit in school) > Reason > Ableton. Also Reaper here and there when I did some video scoring.
>>
>>130562237
>piece of shit

But enough about fl
>>
>>130559517
More control. Ableton and FL are for people who don't actually understand how audio works.
>>
>>130559345
You're obviously retarded
>>
>>130550967
cakewalk next
>>
>>130562522
Honestly, dont bother, even LMMS is better
>>
>>130562410
what did you study?
