Why is there no J Dilla r34?
>>
>sampleslop
not music
>>
>>130578779
I like dilla but it's always been funny to me that he gets credited with inventing swing when it was literally a feature on the MPC he did it on
>>
hes an ugly nigger, why would anyone goon to him?
>>
>>130577674
because he stole godzilla
>>
>>130577674
>trying to jack off to a dead nigga
What's wrong with you?
>>
>>130578779
Nothing is music according to to you annoying ass mu niggas
>>
>>130581798
this
>>
>>130581798
Leave, negro.
>>
>>130578961
nobody credits him with that
they credit him with pioneering different amounts of swing on different elements of the same drum pattern, which nobody intentionally did prior and which is now a staple of modern jazz drumming
>>
>>130581798
So true, /mu/ only listens to idpol slop.
>>
>>130577674
>ah, the exception that proves the rule
what the fuck do people mean when they say this? the exception that DIS-proves the rule, more like, if you ask me.
>>
>>130577674
name a less sexual hiphop act than J Dilla
>>
>>130581835
people absolutely did over-the-top swing with real kits, that's what the mpc feature was based off of. Dilla had a unique way of doing it but I still hear it all the time today where something has heavy swing and people will say it sounds like a Dilla beat
>>
>>130583711
no, see, you're still missing the point
people have swung hard since forever, but dilla made different elements swing differently in the same beat. hats at 60%, snare at 75%, etc. it gave his tracks that drunk feel that hadn't been done on a real kit until after people tried to do his shit on a real kit
>>
>>130585487
hadn't been done on a real kit while sober*
his innovation was bringing this sort of thing to an electronic context
>>
>>130585487
sure, like I said he had a unique way of doing it. My only annoyance is when any beat has heavy swing and people have to bring up the "dilla influence". They aren't calculating that the snare is at a 5% difference in swing than the hats, they just hear a heavy swung hat and some off-time snares and call it dilla.
I like dilla for what it's worth, his shit is classic, but uninformed mfs just act like he invented swing
>>
>>130585731
I think people miss that is swing is a little bit nuanced
>>
>>130585500
yeah I should honestly have qualified by saying nobody was doing it on real kits with clear-headed intent
>>130585731
yeah those people suck
>>
>>130581798
Legitimately who cares what Timmies think about anyone lol.
