>>130585248Strokes fans and early-mid 40s millennials
Julian gets all the cutty
>>130585248Me
>>130585628We know it's you Julian
>>130585248People desperate for good music. Unironically the best album of the 2020s so far, and by far the best Strokes album.
faggots
>>130585248People with shit taste AKA strokes fans
>>130585248People with taste. I'm waiting patiently for the new album in a few weeks. Fuck Trump for delaying the the physical release.
>>130592124>Trump did thatI was not familiar with his game, based Trump.
people with actual lives aka not gatekeeping dipfucks on the internet
>>130586972You have no idea how weird it is that this is quite possibly the only good rock album in years. Like genuinely good. It also feels like they won the Grammy and nobody cares. That's how fucked modern "music" is. They'll keep shilling one of the current popular Disney child star nepo popstars but you never hear anything about the Strokes.
>>130592139He was rambling on his shitty social media site last night that Julian is using too much auto tune and he can barely hear what he is saying. Literally worst president ever. He said some shit like "The bigly wall of sound that the Strokes had is different. I invented that sound, many times with producers, many of whom are my friends. Very beautiful men behind the scenes recording the hits. That's what we do."
>>130592124Trump knew Julian's dad pretty well, i thought they'd be close?
>>130586972The Cure's comeback album was better
>>130593495Doubt. Which album, I'm trying to look it up.
Oh, welcome to Japan
>>130594040Songs of a Lost World
>>130594300I'll give it a listen!
>>130585628>cuttyJust get me off this fucking planet>>130586972This. I still listen often
>>130594352>>130586972What about the Voidz?
>>130585248Mets fans
>>130592171Cause the Strokes are oldPeople talk about Geese cause they're youngToo bad whenever a modern rock band gets big now everybody magically starts hating themI wonder why
>>130595892I dunno, over the past like 15 years the music industry has gotten way more artificial than it used to be. Like almost none of the big pop acts like Sabrina Carpenter or Olivia Rodrigo write they own music, it's like 3 people that write all these hits.>But they have their name on the track!!Yeah there basically what you have to do as a song writer, you give the performer half credit and you get to be on their multi million selling album. All those Disney nepo kids are basically just propped up to be a visual image and the music is secondary. It's insane that some of these big "radio hits" or Spotify top songs sometimes have like 10 writers.
>>130594352>doesn't get no cutty
>>130586972is this it rapes it.
>>130594300No way in hell, Songs of a Lost World is a good album, but next to TNA it is unremarkable and mid. if SOALW were a 7/10, then TNA would be 11/10. >>130596782Nope, too "abrasive" TNA is more melodic/enjoyable, Is This It might be more "influential", but it is certainly worse. >>130595771 Good, but nowhere near TNA level.
>>130597271>AHHH ITS SO ABRASIVE! MY EARS, THE CLUNKINESS!! AHHH I CANT TAKE IT SAVE ME NIGGERMAN!!!
>>130597289Is this It (UK) version one of the greatest debut albums or what?
>>130592171their are plenty of good rock albums in the 2020s and many of them are better than strokes album
>>130597271>is this it is abrasivewhat kind of virgin zoomie ears is this? I can't imagine how narrow your taste must be if that album is abrasive, I can think of maybe 1 or 2 songs on the record I could call "abrasive"
>>130597373Name a few then ?, I've yet to see any, Ants From Up There ?, nope, Getting Killed ?, nope (those are just the ones most often mentioned on rym/aoty, I've checked out hundreds of others) >>130597289>>130597434 To be honest, I just don't like the raw/gritty sound of garage rock.
listened to the album, these 3 tracks were the notable ones bad decisions (ripped off that riff from billy idol), eternal summer (good bowie attempt), Why Are Sundays. And even those tracks aren't without their flaws in general his voice did not sound good the way it was mixed and produced, especially a few moments>>130597687>Adrienne Lenker--SongsScrew the 2020s this is just a magnificent folk album all around, I don't think theres another artist who sat down with just their acoustic and their voice in the last 20 years even and made a record this good>Magdalena Bay---Imaginal DiskThis record is insanely well made, very poppy so maybe its closer to your alley, they nail a variety of genre sounds and produce it amazingly, Thats My Floor, Ballad of Mica, Vampires Love is Everywhere,>McClusky---The World is Still Here and So Are Wethis shit has balls but is useless to compare for someone who thinks Is This It is abrasive>Pretty Sick--Makes Me SickGreat modern 'grunge' record, this girl really nails the spirit on a few of these tracks, PCP especially did it for me>St Vincent---All Born Screaming has some notable lows but the highs are way bigger than that strokes, Broken Man, Flea, and title track specifically, Big Time Nothing too actually>Melvins---Tarantula HeartBuzzo never fails, and he was pretty unique with this one, She has Weird Arms and Pain Equals Funny but the latter will require some patience>Fontaines DC---RomanceThis is more in the pop rock post punk vein that Strokes are in, overall a lot of the tracks don't blow me away but Favorite is so far and beyond anything the Strokes did on their new record (the old record had good guitar interplay), Favorite is so timeless its a classic regardless of the decade, title track is good too>Geese--3D Country much better than getting killed and frankly makes your strokes album look like pop pussy shit, first track is all you really need to hear but plenty of it is great
>>130597812Not only are all those albums WAY worse than TNA, like : they're shit, next to it, but most of those aren't even ROCK, which was the genre anon mentioned.
>>130597812>>130597687I ran outta space soooo>Purple Mountains---s/ttechnically 2019 but this is one of the best emotional records of the 21st century, pure painful honesty and amazing lyrics and songwriting, best indie the 21st century has to offer probably>Gezebelle Gaburgably---GaburgerShit I should've put this on my first post because this has some of the strongest songwriting and production of any new artist, very strong indie pop with some great guitar playing/writing for a girl, she hits so many angles over the course of this thing she would be huge if not for her coming up alongside incelcore artists, also fags focus on the internet meme elements bu the music speaks for itself>Yeule---Evangelic Girl is a Gunkinda trip hop esque shit but man this caught me off guard how good it is, sometimes the guitar comes in and it just knocks your boots off>Ty Segall---Harmonizerhe outdid himself on this, his guitar production sounds as good as ever, Eraser, Whisper, and title track speak for itself, god what a live show>Die Spitz---Something to ConsumeThese chicks are pretty inspired metalheads, found this yesterday but its got way more spirit than your record>Ringo Deathstarr---s/tPretty damn solid modern shoegaze>Angine De Poitrine---2Thats right this record is pretty solid and definiely fits a niche that nothing else in the 2020s fitssome of these are so good i regret not putting them on the first list but i was just putting them on as they came to mind. The new QotsA and Jack White were about as good as that Strokes btw. Swans best stuff was all in 2010s so left them off
>>130597849literally 2 of those aren't rock, also my 2nd post >>130597859 has more rock aswell
>>130597859>>130597864Dude, if you genuinely think any of those are anywhere close to TNA, than your taste isn't just shitty, it's rymcore.
>>130597876implying the Strokes isn't one of the most basic internet critic artists of all time, no absolutely almost every album I listed absolutely mogs TNA and if you can't hear that you have severely basic music taste and probably can't appreciate actual testosterone in music either.
>>130597876I bet you haven't even heard more than 2/3s of those albums on my 2 posts, before I made my opinion I sat hear and listened to the entire Strokes album
>>130597894The Strokes last album, TNA, was remarkably uncharacteristic of them in terms of sound, I don't give a shit what "critics" say, they just happened to agree with what already popular among the general public THIS ONCE, I could name several artists/bands I like, that aren't as acclaimed. You're obviously the kind of person that "likes everything, feels passionate about none", some people aren't fagtano drones, and can't pretend to "enjoy" all music. Nearly all the albums you mentioned are some of the most basic rymslop, that inspire nothing but boredom, they're utter shit next to TNA.
>>130592124>I'm waiting patiently for the new album in a few weeksMan I'm really expecting a pile of dogshit after listening to the singles. Autotuned Casablancas is not what I expected
>>130597373Doubt.
>>130597812>3 tracks>No Ode to the MetsYikes.>>130597894They have genuinely never released a bad album. Maybe a few songs are not as tight as the other but damn can they play. Very curious now that one of the guitarists got kicked out for being Pro Zionism.>>130598057Do you listen to the Voidz? It sounds like a mix of both styles. Going Shopping is fun but Falling Out of Love is genuinely one of the best songs they've ever recorded. Also extremely modern lyrics without using zoomer slang.
