in my opinion is the cold vein by cannibal ox
JPEGMAFIA - All My Heroes are Cornballs
>experimental/abstract not music
>>130592620pretty good album ngl
>>130592535Dalek - negro necro nekros

>>130593430very good album, i was considering putting that album instead
circus - from the shape shifters rap group and legendary cbs graffiti crew with clouddead's beat maker odd nosdam https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVX3o3BFJZkdoes a four minute monkey themed verse https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lulu1vxj-Ewith awol onehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6ZSOJL53wwi think most of that stuff was before daw use but i think the instrumental hip hop that was coming out around 2009-2015ish(?) still holds up extremely well. i'll post some artists and links when i get a chance.
>>130593512great fucking album
>>130593430based
>>130593720these are great!!
Check out Beneath the Surface.>>130592535I liked Blade of the Ronin more.>>130593720Awol One with those weirdo tracks. Both he and Circus are also on Beneath the Surface.
anticon records stuff (more raps)it's them - doseone and sp1200 wizard jelhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ymhbRsxI7gwhy? from clouddead https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jk-yXkGL3kIhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYyGtUBMLPo>>130593742yeah, circus is a wild one. lots of oddball conspiracy stuff in his raps. here's another forgotten gem. this one features members of the living legends crew murs, eligh and scarub:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vU_BV7KduU>>130593825yeah farmers market. i'd say the first two aceyalone albums might be worth op checking out too.
>experimentalrym troonslop buzzword
>>130594555you could have just not entered the thread
>>130596763so cool!!!
>>130592535https://youtu.be/84cymo-RZfoThis album isn't really /that/ weird, but it never gets talked about and it's one of my favorite hip-hop albums full stop. DJ Hi-Tek and 2 MCs that nobody's ever heard of + a few Talib features, Cincinnati 1997. The beats are super trippy and dark, lyrics are all some heady pseudo-intellectual religious / conspiracy theory shit, it's a really unique weird album that stays closer to raw boom bap than it does weirdo shit but it's in a really nice place in that balance imo. Nothing else quite like it. Maybe something like Heavy Mental - Killah Priest is close-ish but not really
It's an obvious choice but Quasimoto - The Unseen.

>>130598070hi tek before jay dee influence is interesting. it's weird how all decent underground hip hop production sounded like this before jay dee.
>>130599885is that really that experimental? i like it for being just a typical amateur rap album made at home in the 90s but i think it gets way too much for what it is. great marketing though.
>>130604862I mean it's more experimental than 'The Cold Vein' but it obviously not a very leftfield album.
>>130602467so fucking good but i wouldnt consider it entirely hip hop it has chopped & screwed that now that i think of it it kinda makes sense beign here, but englobes many more genres
>>130605040i mean the cold vein was kinda setting the bases of modern experimental hip hop, i wouldnt say its more experimental but quasimotos album was more centered on experimenting with jazz than any other music in general
The only acceptable answer
>>130607359What I wouldn't give for El to make another solo record.
