What the fuck, why did no one tell me metal was this fucking good?!!?!?

bump
>>
Worst Iron Maiden album (out of the classic run) btw.
>>
>>130607659
thrash metal had kind of overtaken them by 88
>>
>>130607719
how? they were touring arenas by that time and the only thrash band that rivaled them in size was metallica
>>
>>130607719
it's called thrash metal because it's fucking trash LMAO
>>
>>130607659
That's Piece of Mind
>>
>>130606788
For me its Sign of the Cross from Rock in Rio.
>>
>>130607659
Just shows how good those 80s album were. Evil that Men Do, Only the Good Die Young, Seventh Son and Infinite Dreams are all great songs.
>>
>>130607659
Yes, it was the beginning of the end.

>>130607747
When I saw Seventh Son's tour, Guns & Roses were opening for them. Even back then Axl had no voice. . .

>>130609877
Their live after death compilation was awsome from start to finish. Cassette version, 90 min, had more songs than the CD, 75min.
>>
>>130609877
It was nice to hear them play Infinite Dreams and Title track live
>>
>>130607659
nah that's no prayer for the dying easily.
>>
>>130612052
Yep, never went back to their shows after seventh son
I didnt even bothered to listen to anything they did since, couldnt care less, they are long out of juice.

same thing for Metalica, didnt listen to anything new after the black album sell out
>>
Dickinson was never a real metal head, he's clearly a faggot, his solo shit sucks

Talk about a band that was 100% built for the Reagan years and couldn't exist once they were over.

>still clinging to the "le metallica sold out!!!!" narrative 30+ years later
Well I definitely believe you when you say you saw Maiden in the 80s
>>
>>130612120
things definitely felt different in 89 once Bush was in office, the culture was changing quickly
>>
>>130607659
Still a good album
>>
>>130612159
the next 10 of years of music was epic

Seventh Chorus of a Seventh Chorus repeat

Iron Madien is more hard rock to me than metal.
>>
>>130607659
Cringe
>>
>>130607719
Revisionist history moron.
>>130612304
Get out zoomer
>>
>>130612120
it's not as if you couldn't argue same for Metallica
>>
>>130612159
Meaning that alt rock and rap were blowing up rapidly during 89 so it felt like a new era had come.
>>
>>130612100
His solo albums are great, especially Chemical Wedding
>>
Metal is gay and cringe
Maiden is straight and based
>>
>>130612420
You could see that in 88 already, NWA, Tracy Chapman, and Edie Brickell showed where things were headed. There is the argument that the 80s were really 1978-87 rather than 80-89.
>>
>>130612100
From what I read, he was bitching about being in Iron Maiden as early as 1986. Then after he quit, he shit talked them in the press. He only rejoined since his solo career was shit and Maiden was desperate for a comeback (I think Bruce has liked being in Maiden since he's been back).
>>
>>130612421
His new solo album was mediocre except for Eternity Has Failed
>>
>>130612252
not as good as your mom's hairy gaping snatch
>>
>>130612437
>There is the argument that the 80s were really 1978-87 rather than 80-89.
No there isn't. The 80s were 1981 to 1992. Just look at the charts. Early 80s were full of pop/country ballads that were remains from the late 70s. That didn't started to dry up until MTV in 1981-82. And the 80s sound with the gated reverb and Stock Aitken Waterman production values weren't being phased out until late 1991 into 1992.
>>
>>130612607
1992 was really nothing at all like 81-82 though, was it?
>>
>>130612686
doesn't mean it still didn't still feel like the 80s. culture doesn't cleanly cut off like numbers
>>
Internet "metalheads" will do their fuKKKing best to convince you their favorite 2026 band (which is a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a [...]) with 20 Spotify monthly listeners is the best of their subgenre, but the TRUTH about metal is the BIG bands of EVERY subgenre are the BEST. They're popular for a fuKKKing reason. You'll only be able to confirm this advanced revelation if you've been into metal for over a decade.
>>
>>130615655
Tourist-tier take from somebody who got bullied for listening to Cradle of Filth or Amon Amarth or some stupid shit.
>>
>>130615930
Go back to your shitty general
>>
>>130609235
as iconic as the trooper and flight of icarus are, i dare say i agree with you

piece of mind is mostly unremarkable, especially its side b
>>
>>130615655
You may also be surprised that any other croonerslop you could listen to will not be at Frank Sinatra's level and you'll be disappointed.
>>
>>130615930
>Cradle of Filth or Amon Amarth
Never listened to those shit fuKKKing bands and hate them more than you ever could. Your post actually made me realize a qualifier was necessary in mine. Maybe not EVERY big band, but the ones keeping it TRUE. Let's say the AUTHENTIC big bands of every subgenre. And if you don't know which those are then you're not into metal to begin with.
>>
>>130615930
First few Amon Amarth albums were decent
>>
>>130606788
That song is mogged by Bruce's advertisement for his favorite brothel which he jammed onto the album

Love that one. I remember I heard that for the first time on one of the DirecTV music channels when I was still getting into metal so I hadn't heard all of the classics yet
>>
>>130612052
That's not the classic run. "Classic run" Maiden is when they wore tight spandex. By No Prayer, they had switched to blue jeans.
>>
reminder that Cuckgau was so terrified of Priest/Maiden/Pantera that he didn't even review them at all
