I do not take Olivia Rodrigo or Sabrina Carpenter seriously because they're both Disney nepo babies and if you look at the credits they don't actually write the songs.
>But they're credited on one or two songs with 20 other people!!
Because it's the artist's album. That's how these hired songwriters make money. You want to get published on an album guaranteed to sell millions and get millions of plays? You give up 50% to the artist.
>>
>>130608683
there's only 1-3 people per song credited.
>>
>>130608683
Let's take a look at the first single:
Drop Dead
>Written by Olivia Rodrigo, Amy Allen, Dan Nigro

Who is Amy Allen?
>She is credited with songwriting for artists including Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Harry Styles, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Tate McRae, Halsey, Rosé, and Shawn Mendes, among others.[3]

All "artists" that genuinely are not good and are also nepo Disney kids.

Who is Dan Nigro?
>Nigro has produced, written, and co-written songs for Sky Ferreira, Joe Jonas, Kylie Minogue, Caroline Polachek, Olivia Rodrigo, Chappell Roan, Dermot Kennedy, Reneé Rapp, Maisie Peters, Conan Gray, and Lorde.

Again, other hack artists for the most part.

The Cure
>Written by Olivia Rodrigo, Dan Nigro

Out of 13 tracks only TWO (2) have a single credit for Rodrigo, Honey Bee and Begged.

The way the music industry has worked for the last 15 years or more is that actual songwriters (Amy, Dan) write music/demos and then they pitch these to pop artists who might like to record them. It's usually also the same 3 song writers among the biggest pop stars including Beyonce and Taylor Swift among others.
>>
>>130608750
Amy Allen, Dan Nigro. Allen, Nigro? Al la negro?
>>
>>130608750
>Out of 13 tracks only TWO (2) have a single credit for Rodrigo, Honey Bee and Begged
>Begged
fleetwood mac should get credit
>>
>>130608750
>Amy Allen
i remember her from the a team
>>
>>130608750
>The way the music industry has worked for the last 15 years or more is that actual songwriters
For other artists yes but for people like Oivia she would make the demos and send it to Dan who would make the instrumentals and add a few changes, they then split the credits 50/50.

If another writer is involved like Amy allen, then her and olivia would have a session together and come up with something from scratch and Dan would again do the instrumentals.
>>
>>130608063
With the BNM stamp, I am now forced to stand up and admit that she's elite.
>>
>>130608063
The result of poptimism being that we should take these 'artists' and 'their' music seriously tells me the whole thing was a mistake. This is not her album at all, this is an approximation of what actual talented artists and groups used to do before all the power shifted to corpofags and before literal fags in music journalism opened the floodgates on this shit
>>
>>130608915
See >>130609234
Take a look at her album GUTS. Not a single track is solely credited to her. But Nigro is cowriter on literally every song. And you who else is there?

Julia Michaels. Who is she?
>In her songwriting career, Michaels has been credited on songs for Selena Gomez, Olivia Rodrigo, Demi Lovato, Ed Sheeran, Fifth Harmony, Shawn Mendes, Britney Spears, Justin Bieber, Gwen Stefani, Sabrina Carpenter, and Tate McRae, among others.

Again, several "artists" and familiar names, nepo Disney babies again.

Who else is on the album?
Ian Eric Kirkpatrick.
>He has produced and written music for many high-profile artists such as Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Dua Lipa, Jason Derulo, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Nick Jonas, Pitbull, Sabrina Carpenter, Selena Gomez, Shakira, and The Chainsmokers.[1][2]

And Alexander Glantz.
>he has worked with artists such as Olivia Rodrigo, John Mayer, Noah Kahan, Tate McRae, Charlie Puth, Laufey, Role Model, Reneé Rapp, Omar Apollo, Selena Gomez, Jeremy Zucker, Joji, Bella Kay, Kenny Beats, David Kushner, Addison Rae, Teezo Touchdown, Glaive and Megan Thee Stallion,
Also Amy Allen is on ther album.
>>
Let's go to her first album:
Nigro on all tracks again except ONE.
Alexander Glantz is on it,
Jack Antonof
>Antonoff has produced and co-written songs with other music acts such as Taylor Swift, Lorde, Lana Del Rey, St. Vincent, Pink, Florence and the Machine, Kendrick Lamar, Sabrina Carpenter, and Doja Cat.

I'm telling you, almost none of the pop people you see on the internet or YouTube algorithm or commercials or special events, etc are all the same people. The record companies love Disney nepo babies because they already have an established fanbase of children when then grow with the child actor. When they hit their 20s now they're making albums. When they hit their mid 20s or 30s then suddenly the start showing up in TV shows or movies. Whatever child stars Disney has right now, I guarantee you many of them will SUDDENLY have some big high production album in their early 20s. Record labels love these people because it's 1 singer that they can manage and not an entire band with different ideas and interests. They don't need to write their own music because these people have a roster of producers they can just call out to. They don't need to know how to play music because someone else makes the music. There's no instruments to take during live performances. They don't work out? It's only one person you need to replace, no need to find a new drummer that knows all the songs, you just get new artificial pop star to take over.
>>
>>130608063
I love it and I think stupid song is beautiful
>>
>>130608063
Starts kinda weak but gets much stronger as it progresses and finishes with the best track.

>>
I’m a fan of this album and I do really see the growth/evolution in her music specifically vocally.
>>
>>130608713
>>130608750
If "Honeybee" and "Begged" are good or even the best, then that would prove she doesn't need the writers.

This was the most surprising thing to me, she used to sound really rough on some tracks and especially live but she really stepped up her game this time, her live performance of The Cure is awesome
>>
>>130613571
>she used to sound really rough on some tracks and especially live
So true and it’s one of reasons I like her as an artist. She seems to actually work on the things she’s received criticism for. Her live arrangements of drop dead and the cure are so good and adjusted nicely for sounding clean while walking around on stage.
>>
>>130613571
>>130614005

>>
>>130610390
Guts is entirely Rodrigo and Nigro except for 2 songs which has another person.

Producers make the instrumentals which is part of the song so they will share writing credits. Before they would not because they made enough on production credits alone but that doesn't pay enough now due to streaming so they get writing credits now to make up for it. Making pop instruementals is hard due to all the layering and effects so it's not realsitistic to make an artist learn the ins-and-outs of a DAW when they can just hire someone else to do it.
>>
>>130613082
she needs someone to make the instrumentals and they get credits for that.
