Bros I miss them so much. >Alexis drip, crisp fry screams coupled with edgy lyrics>Guitar licks on Beethoven level>Synth leads giving their tracks the final chef kiss>Incredible live shows>comfiness of just a few wildchilds enjoying their never-ending youthThere is really nothing like this anymore. I'm looking but I'm not finding.
>>130612293Kalmah are better
How do you pronounce this band name?BOW-dahm?buh-DAHM?
>>130612293They've started back up again with an Alexi clone (as far as playing and vocal style). It's kinda weird though because to me Alexi WAS Children of Bodom.>>130612319Boh-Duhmhttps://youtu.be/W621f7n4XQg
>>130612351Like, baaa (like a sheep), dumb (like me, i guess)?
>>130612379Bo like Donatello's weapon and dumb like Dumb and Dumber. Accent on the first syllable.
>>130612293Children of Bodom?More like Children of Sodom!LMAO.
I like this one because of how weird it is compared to a lot of the standard melo-death fare. https://youtu.be/BConOxTzd6MJust noticed he does the "Let's go!" on this one too. ¯_(ツ)_/¯Apparently it's heavily inspired by a Stone song iirc.
What's the general consensus on their discographyI love their first 5 albums (Are You Dead Yet? is still great even if it has a different sound) but couldn't get into much after that. I don't know if it's because I listened to those earlier albums as a teenager and so they were "formative" albums for me (besides thinking even then that Bloodrunk still being a bit meh) but are the rest just considerably weaker or are there albums worth checking out?
>>130612429>Apparently it's heavily inspired by a Stone song iirc.Funnily enough, most re-issues of the Hatebreeder album have No Commands by Stone as a bonus track
>>130613318I feel very similarly. Never bothered with Blooddrunk or anything after. I similarly don't bother with anything Mindless Self Indulgence that came after You'll Rebel To Anything.
>>130612302Kalmah and Winturdsun are forever in the shadow of Chadron of Brodom
Another banger:https://youtu.be/NvER3Uq2qvM
>>130613318Hexed was a decent send off album
>>130613318That is the general consensus. The first albums are way more catchy on the first glance but I really enjoy their newer releases as well. Each of the newer album has a few songs that are really good imo. But they may take more time to get into themhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUmS9TVspAUhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldiVtE0Vnu0https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZWRYrbQNw0https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIsbxH7k4ScAnd of coursehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scgnSjvwoJ8
What is their best cover version? I like Aces High and Mass Hypnosis
>>130614086Honestly, their cover of Alice Cooper's Bed of Nails is fantastic. Still sounds like an Alice Cooper song while being pure BodomThe part at the end where they speed everything up drastically might honestly make it better than the original
>>130613318Halo of Blood sounds pretty close to Hate Crew Deathroll, Relentless Reckless Forever and Hexed are pretty alright, didn't really care for I Worship Chaos but it's better than Blooddrunk. None of them are as good as the first albums but if you still liked Are You Dead Yet you'd probably enjoy them.
>>130614086Their cover of Oops I Did It Again is the first song I heard from them
>>130614086"Somebody Put Something In My Drink" and "Don't Stop At The Top" are great. I don't really care for ANY band's cover of "Aces High" personally.
>>130612293They have a new singer/lead guitarist now who's better than drunk Alexi was: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_stT5hpgGsgHe's playing Alexi's shit note for note and sounds the same too
>>130612293>Bros I miss them so much.I don't. Them, Dimmu Borgir, Wintersun. Putrid poser trash for women.
>>130615354Not sure what I think of this. He wasn't just the singer/lead guitar, Alexi wrote about 95% of their discographyHe pretty much was the band
>>130615471What do you listen to?
>>130612319Until a few years ago I thought they were called Children Of Boredom
Well they're literally active again.
>>130615354Awesome tribute on the reunion video. Band sounded incredibly tight and the leads were on point. Too bad the cam recording is shit quality, would love to hear it off the board.>>130615479Of course, but he's gone now. The best thing the band can do is keep going and keep the magic of those songs alive (as long as done properly). It will basically be a Tribute band. It's very sad how Alexi died. He basically knew he was going to drink himself to death and couldn't stop.>>130613318Same. Love Hatebreeder the most. SW is great although not as polished in production (which was something I really appreciated with CoB). Follow the Reaper and Hatecrew Deathroll were also very strong. AYDY was where they started falling off for me. Alexi said they were starting to play bigger and bigger festivals after HCD and you can tell he started to write more accessible songs to appeal to that type of crowd. At that point they completely lost that neoclassical power metal hybrid that made the first records so special to me.>>130612293Not the exact same, but you can check out Synergy which has some awesome guitar work with Alexi and Roope at their peak. His ex-wife sings on those records.
