why do people like this kind of shit? im honestly convinced people who really really like psych and prog are just too autistically attached to the label "rock" to accept they really just like jazz
>>130637268Sorry you got filtered
>>130637289i literally only used to listen to this kind of obscure shit for years until i started to give actual music a chance. i guarantee ive listened to this album more than you
>>130637268so you're saying you've gotten attached to the jazz label then? a very dumb non-opinion.also>>130637334>le actual musicreddit midwit alert
>>130637334I'd love to find out what you consider "actual music"
>>130637852i listen to other stuff besides jazz, its just what these bands were ripping off and passing off as new. or rather ultimate spinach are just ripping of the san francisco psych bands (literally their first album is track for track a rip off of the first country joe and the fish album) but all the san Francisco bands were listening to jazz for their ideas.actual music is where they don't sound completely inept at their instruments. half retarded blues guitarists from the delta are a million times better than any of these guys
>>130637909western classical, jazz, folk, blues, experimental electronic, indian classical atleast. music with standards that are not a complete embarrasment
>>130637268Jazz is just blatty noodling, psych and prog have actual songs
>>130638062all of these are full of gems and full of shit, what albums do you like?
>>130638062>indian classicalsaaaar
>>130637268Its almost as if people can enjoy multiple styles of music. What a wacky concept.
>>130638097i dont really think about ranking these are just what come to mindwestern classical: can't really decide on specific favorite albums because of how many there are but solo piano music of chopin, debussy, ravel, satie, scriabin, schoenberg string quartets, basically anything by bach. jazz: something like coltrane - love supreme, blakey - free for all, davis - esp, in a silent way, shorter - juju, henderson - tetragon, monk's time, mccoy tyner - real mccoy, woody shaw - blackstone legacy, parker - dial recordings, wes montgomery - boss guitar, larry young - of love and peace, folk: any dylan from like 63-65, john fahey - blind joe death, leo kottke - 6 & 12 string guitar, bert jansch - bert and john, van morrison - astral weeks, nick drake - pink moonblues:any classic era acoustic john lee hooker, fred mcdowell, sometimes electric stuff like albert collins, bb king, sonny boy williamson, buddy guy, muddy waters. for the most part their pre late 60s early 70s modernized stuff.experimental:xenakis - persepolis, throbbing gristle - 20 jazz funk greats. i know theres stuff that ill like out there as a totality i just havent look hard enough yet. indian classical:anything ravi shankar did in india for HMV is great, banerjee - kpfa tapes, subbulakshmi 1963, ali akbar khan - sound of the sarod.
>>130638097and ive found that those genres have a much higher chance of atleast being good or competent compared to rock or any of its subgenres. too many bands that obviously care more about image than music
