I still find Cornell's death shocking, Kurt was so long ago it just feels like a staple of entertainment culture and history same as Lennon being shot. Then you had Layne turn of century which felt like it had been coming for years. Things were chill for awhile and then STP singer died which was like an even more elongated bitter and resistant version of Layne. And it seems like everyone else is gonna die naturally and suddenly Cornell hangs himself. This supposed depressed guy who got through the dark youthful years, got mega rich, had kids, had the funds and everything to live in whatever way he wanted and then he hangs himself on tour? because of benzos i guess? I know klonopin so I'm aware it makes you do stuff because you dgaf but thats still insane. Then Lanegan went down later which felt like natural causes. Now everyone who hated on Eddie Vedder can fuck themselves because he came out on top and proved he was always the most mature and competent grunge guy. Oh and uh Dave Grohl exists.

I think it's honestly really strange that "grunge" (not a real genre btw, but a scene!) became the mainstream, default normie genre for five or so years, it just doesn't make sense. I remember seeing Nirvana live in 1989, and thinking "huh, there ok" than three years later normies who had no idea who Husker Du where, all of a sudden Nirvana was there favorite band. It was gay honestly, I'm glad rock isn't popular anymore because most mainstream rock was dogshit.Grunge was good though, earlier on anyway.
