I'm an older zoomer with pretty bad adhd. Over my 25 years of life, i believe I have listened to 10 full albums. To publicly humiliate myself, some of the highlights are:
Hair spray - the movie sound track
TITS - Logic
Jeffery - Young Thug
To pimp a butterfly - Ye
Mad city - Kendrick
And that's honestly all I can think of. Now I listen to singles constantly from musicians with less than 1000 monthly listeners and my go to genre despite my completed albums are actually garage rock. So I'm not musically inept or vapid. And ive of course hear the greats like ok computer, my beautiful dark twisted fantasy, dark side of the moon etc all over time. But I find completing albums in a singles format ruins the artists intended vision. That I am missing an important part of the music. Like watching a movie through tiktok clips and edits. Yes I know the highlights but I miss the nuance the pacing. I'm eating food but I'm not having a meal. I don't care too much for the genre though I prefer one of the many sub genres of rock such as nu metal, post hardcore, hair metal, melodic death metal etc. Or the many electronic based. Like liquid drum and bass, house dub and or step, all with heavy vocal utilization as pure instrumentals make my fucked up brain drift. I'm thinking short but emotional romps from passionate musicians. Something like 30 minutes or less. If its on bandcamp or some other place that's fine. If i need to pay, that's fine as long as i can hear a preview of the tracks. If it's your band a rejects losers and outcasts? Honestly based. Please feel free to self promo to me i love it.

I have and do, but I don't want just the top trending slop. I want the underground and lesser known. As well as the curated taste of unique anons who offer an alternative view cultivated by isolation, rejection and other negative emotions that shaped their individual ears. I want something i wouldn't just find on reddit, something I can't just ask a computer to give me. It's really gay and faggy. But I'm in that kind of mood. And maybe /here/ has changed since i stopped lurking and the community is gone. And I'm looking for something that's no longer here. Maybe we're just green reddit now. And I deluding myself by thinking I'm getting some sort of counter culture view of things here. I don't miss the old 4chan. It was always gay and cringe. But I miss the idea of it. And sometimes when I'm manic I like to pretend that I'll make a post and relive the old highs of good threads and discussions that only ever existed in my imagination

Sir. You highly over estimate my ability.
But I did still give it once over. It's a bit too mono chord. And by that I mean the progression kind of feels like a straight line, with too little variation. Almost like one long track. Which is something I find with this genre of metal. It's also highly instrumental with little vocal presences.
Still i thank you for the contribution, not quite my tempo but I'm sure it's someone's. Links for anons with the title for those who struggle with even basic script/cursive

>I want the underground and lesser known
You start at the top of the iceberg for a reason, not because it's easy but it tells you what you do and don't like then where to go from there. It narrows down the criteria like you wouldn't believe. The continuity is natural because you can just see whatever super famous act you like, find who influenced them who influenced them who influenced them for example. Or inversely, "X is a small independent artist who takes cues from Y and Z". It won't mean much if you aren't already aware of how Y and Z created X. And since you're a crazy rare case of someone who wants to learn instead of arrogantly posturing, I'd offer my own hand....except I know basically nothing you've listed

Truly underground recs aren't actually all that common here, most discussion tends to center around either pop albums or whatever Pitchfork/RYM likes this week. 30 minutes or less also makes it harder since most albums tend to be around 40-50 minutes, and the exceptions tend to be longer rather than shorter. Honestly, my recommendation would be to pick an album and just play it through while drawing/freewriting/coding/exercising whatever. Find a way to listen through all the way that works. But here's 27 minutes and 26 minutes for you, although neither is particularly obscure.

work on your attention span first, or you'll never be able to engage with albums properly. don't give in to the skinner box
>>
>>130645403
>want something i wouldn't just find on reddit, something I can't just ask a computer to give me.
So you ask anons to give it to you? Stop trying to get spoon fed, go and explore and force yourself out of your diminishing attention span
>>
>>130645148
Short attention spans are mostly a fake thing that parasitic Western civilization wants you to believe is a shortcoming.

If something is worthy of your attention, you will suddenly have an attention span. But they want you to pay attention to low effort, high budget entertainment slop and your shitty job.

ADHD retards listen to albums? I thought you type could only handle singles.
>>
not even gonna bother checking the times on these bc if its not an album that clicks w/ u ur not gonna listen to it in its entirety regardless, so id rec that u just find songs that you like so much that you want to hear more, thats when you find great albums. You are missing a lot, some of my favorite parts of music is transitions between songs, how one song can carry into another lyrically or through sound or in referential passing. But my no skip albums that tell a story would have to be
before today - a celebration of an ending
asking alexandria - stand up and scream
saosin - translating the name
lamp - yume
pierce the veil - a flair for the dramatic and selfish machines (the transitions in these ones are sooo good)
bring me the horizon - this is what the edge of your seat was made for (this one is an ep so its insanely short)
la femme - psycho tropical berlin
mass of fermenting dregs - world is yours idgaf if its mucore
paradis - recto verso
hope this helps anon also delete all social media if u really want to fix ur attention span
>>
>>130648342
I only listen to 6 second song edits. Just take the best part. Thats what hip hop did, now it's just distilled
>>

That's a fair view on popular music being useful as a broad taste maker. Kind of like getting into skrilex learning you like him. Hearing he's not really "dub step" learning the difference, exploring the genres and getting deeper. I think i have a pretty refined pallet. Riot grrrl, cloud, post hardcore, garage rock, liquid dnb. Broad but still clearly defined unlike melodic and, math and tech metal for example. Which to my ear has a lot of bleed between genres.
>>
>>130647161
Fair! And it doesn't need to be obscure per say. I was waxing poetic. The intro of that first album has some crazy variety and shifts in it. Very nice. I have added it to my Playlist. Thank you based anon
>>
Stop listening to rap, unironically. I say this as someone who just turned 25. It's melting your brain.
>>
>>130647312
Lol, I wish. I can't focus on the things I want to do.
>>130648315
Noise albums make me feel like a pretentious music major. They are often difficult for me to digest. I don't know the tracks on this because it's not stamped. But the one starts with what sounds like a windshield wiper scraping against glass. Kinda heavily pushes to my limits of listenability, but the drum break that starts catches me right before I gave up. A challenge but interesting listen.
>>130648342
I mean i pretty much do listen to personalized tracks of singles from my sp*tify, so youre not wrong.
>>130648739
Based list. Straight out of warp tour. I actually have all these bands in my Playlist for a while. Ptv. I knew bring me to the horizon before they were famous, and they were making demos and letting us use them on YouTube for free. Those were the days. I've tried a lot of these bands before and couldn't listen all the way through at once. But I have "finished" the albums in bits.
>>
>>130651687
Can I be honest? Is this a safe space anons?
I listen to a lot of ticktok edits and check out the full song and get disappointed. Like the rest of the song is just mid compared to the slice. Like the Billy Jean remix edit. Party of two, any and everything my melly Mike.
>>
>>130655642
Maybe cause nobody who uses tiktok knows what good music is
>>
Nice to see all the suggestions but can we get something with name recognition. Being a famous band isnt evil and being obscure doesnt make you good. I'll throw down the gorillaz albums.

>>
>>130645148
seems like you're listening to music that doesn't have enough variety to hold your attention for a full album. unironically try some entry level prog rock like h to he who am the only one or close to the edge. the songs might seem long but there's lots of schizo whiplashing to keep someone interested

Parts of songs that have artists say things that people then clip out of context being 'good' doesnt really make sense when you say that the full songs suck.
>>
>>130660354
It makes perfect sense. Tracks especially with many switch up's can have great portions that have other parts that don't quite live up to it. There are countless songs I've written where my chorus is great or an incredible intro followed by a mediocre fall. Love me - jmsn is a great example, wolf's by Kanye or the second part of mo bamba
>>
>>130658646
Yeah. You have autism i had untreated adhd. I can't choose what I fixate on it just happens. And then it changes. I built a career on my hyper fixation where I was making triple digits before the comma got involved. I had to walk away when my brain said , lol nah. Medications help greatly. I don't feel so out of control of my own body, but it still happens. The manic episodes are more manageable and I probably need counseling or some gay shit. (I called it gay so I can sound tuff). But at least I ain't into sonic inflation like6u autists so there's a plus.
