>>130664213This is my personal favorite indie rock album of all time. I'm very partial to In the Aeroplane Over the Sea and Perfect From Now On, as well.
bump
>>130664213Listen to Superchunk. I like all there 90s records, but “ On the Mouth” we is probably the best
>>130664213>slacker rockFaggot rym cucks. I will always tag them lofi
this genre tagging shit is so lame. i'm feeling generous today because i'm tired n sick so i'll tell you the true goat: Helvetia
>>130666923shins and bts arent lofi?
>>130664213if u like japanes indiehttps://www.youtube.com/@KataConor/videos
>>130666967wasn't it called slacker rock in the 90s? indie could have been anything and was originally used for post-hardcore too

Ordered them most likely to apply to least, very roughly. And have you listened to Smog? Wouldn't call him slacker rock, but I bet you'd like Accumulation: None and others like Julius Caesar and Wild Love. Accumulation: None has this cool pattern of alternating styles and tones.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hm3zMp7OL5Y
The Shins is too try hard to be slacker rock. Slacker rock are bands like Sonic Youth
What about Idaho (the band, not the state)?
>>130664213>>130669172And while I'm thinking, I'll list some specifically 90s/00s stuff:>Pinbackhttps://pinback.bandcamp.com/album/pinback>P.E.E. [can't vouch for the remaster, but these guys are amazing]https://peemusic.bandcamp.com/album/now-more-charm-and-more-tender>Sebadohhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTJp1o_RRDchttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5m19SF0ync>Sentridohhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z54MRdkfY5U(and the same EP at a slower speed, which was my introduction to it)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoFUUNsiyGs>Pie [interesting undocumented LP version of an EP they released]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aStb-lLCFlY
>>130669260I did NOT expect to see the band PEE on here, goated album
>>130664213Polvo - Today's Active Lifestyles
Just remembered that a couple attic abasement applies here. Love these albums.>Dancing is Depressinghttps://atticabasement.bandcamp.com/album/dancing-is-depressing>Swim Through the Dirthttps://atticabasement.bandcamp.com/album/swim-through-the-dirt>self-titledhttps://atticabasement.bandcamp.com/album/attic-abasementI also love this set of demos, but they're seemingly a one-off solo thing. Never found anything else by the guy (there's another musician on Bandcamp with the same name, but I don't think it's the same guy).>Eoin Coffey - SFSE (demos)https://chessmaster.bandcamp.com/album/sfse-demos

why is it called slacker?
>>130666741based Superchunk fan. I grew up a big 90s indie dork but was born in 91. Superchunk was never fed to me as part of the canon but I spent some time getting into them over covid and they have a ton of perfect tracks. Dunno why they're so overlooked as I think if you were actually around back then everybody had heard those records

>>130664213https://youtu.be/ewRb8tguWa8>>130667765I'm young enough where I always knew it as indie shit but from what I've heard "college rock" was the common phrase because of college radio
>>130675376stupid tranny
Superchunk are weird. I think Majesty Shredding is genuinely pretty great, and while all their other albums have a few bangers, I also think 70% of the songs are boring AF. Portastatic might actually be more consistent.
>>130664213Kicked it in the sun is the best indie rock song of all time
>>130664213Best and most authentic of recent years is UK Leeds band Mushhttps://youtu.be/xJkzkEmf1zA?is=aHjqz6tl02KL9kgJhttps://youtu.be/24i0_Hskl4M?is=C9yqSxN-Abvlgdi9https://youtu.be/6XYYvlS924E?is=U06CulHLUECuE06QThey have a bunch of EPS and singles that are recorded on 4-track/vinyl-only, so you won't find it all online, they split and moved on to new projects so I put some needledrops on soulseek
i'll check out the recs now thanks
