This is my personal favorite indie rock album of all time. I'm very partial to In the Aeroplane Over the Sea and Perfect From Now On, as well.

Faggot rym cucks. I will always tag them lofi

wasn't it called slacker rock in the 90s? indie could have been anything and was originally used for post-hardcore too

Some of these are more like math rock/post-rock/post-punk, but I think there'd be something for you in them. Ordered them most likely to apply to least, very roughly.

And have you listened to Smog? Wouldn't call him slacker rock, but I bet you'd like Accumulation: None and others like Julius Caesar and Wild Love. Accumulation: None has this cool pattern of alternating styles and tones.

The Shins is too try hard to be slacker rock. Slacker rock are bands like Sonic Youth
>>
What about Idaho (the band, not the state)?

And while I'm thinking, I'll list some specifically 90s/00s stuff:

Just remembered that a couple attic abasement applies here. Love these albums.

>Swim Through the Dirt

I also love this set of demos, but they're seemingly a one-off solo thing. Never found anything else by the guy (there's another musician on Bandcamp with the same name, but I don't think it's the same guy).

why is it called slacker?

based Superchunk fan. I grew up a big 90s indie dork but was born in 91. Superchunk was never fed to me as part of the canon but I spent some time getting into them over covid and they have a ton of perfect tracks. Dunno why they're so overlooked as I think if you were actually around back then everybody had heard those records

I'm young enough where I always knew it as indie shit but from what I've heard "college rock" was the common phrase because of college radio

Superchunk are weird. I think Majesty Shredding is genuinely pretty great, and while all their other albums have a few bangers, I also think 70% of the songs are boring AF. Portastatic might actually be more consistent.
>>
>>130664213
Kicked it in the sun is the best indie rock song of all time

Best and most authentic of recent years is UK Leeds band Mush

They have a bunch of EPS and singles that are recorded on 4-track/vinyl-only, so you won't find it all online, they split and moved on to new projects so I put some needledrops on soulseek
>>
i'll check out the recs now thanks
