I have come to the inescapable conclusion that Talk Talk is the greatest band of all time.

The Party's Over was so bad I haven't listened to anything else they've made
>>130669004I wish they made another album like this before going into post-rock. Ditching the synths but still keeping the massive pop hooks and anthemic choruses.
Mark Hollis was so talented he was able to make listenable songs with a) a children’s choir b) a harmonica refrain (and a wild ass solo) and c) a pan pipe outro. F

>>130674671Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums.. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.
>>130676130>Do you like Phil Collins?of course. though i know your comment is a joke i grew up when phil collins & genesis & mike and the mechanics were everywhere. i love all their music. i have all their albums on CD

>>130669098There's still Mark Hollis' solo album and some of the work of everyone else like Tim Green, they all seemed to continue in similar directions. Supposedly Mark was also putting out new music under an unknown pseudonym but who knows when or if it'll be found, all that's known is that it was very minimal classical music.

>>130679586>Supposedly Mark was also putting out new music under an unknown pseudonymprobably, someone with that drive and creativity doesn’t just quit at 35 to become a family man
>>130680005Yeah I recall reading an article around the time he died and it had an interview with his friend I think. He said something about Mark still recording and putting music out somewhere, I just wish someone would actually reveal it.
