So yeah, me not “getting” Spiderland isn’t important and it isn’t that I’m not trying to get it or failing to get it, it’s just that it sounds bad. Swans was always poser bullshit but GYBE is, speaking as a guy that really loved it to death around 2001, beyond anachronistic. They should have stayed dead after Yanqui because that whole genre of music makes absolutely no sense in the modern context. It did actually in the late 90s and 00s, their ethos fit right in, thus their popularity. Calling it a costume now is generous.
