Music peaked in the early 2010s.
>>130690914I visited early 2010s and they disagree tho
>>130690914Nope, mid 2000s.
>>130691176>Nope, mid 2000s.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billboard_Year-End_Hot_100_singles_of_2004Nah.
>>130690914Nah, early 10s were fucking bad, everything devolved into dance music
>>130691379What's so bad about dancing?
>>130691379>Nah, early 10s were fucking bad, everything devolved into dance musicnot a problem per se if it wasn't all sterile EDMslop
>>130691598Were you conscious circa. 2014, 15, 16? When sterile EDMslop was half the charts?
>>130691598>>130691731yeah it was fun and a beautiful timemuch better than pessimistic rockslop or ex-boyfriend popslophttps://youtu.be/e5CxXNUTDN4
>>130691807Desu one of the main reasons people hated this kind of music back then was because the economy was so shit nobody could afford these happy happy dance dance fun fun tonight tonight ohhh ohhh ohhh tonight tonight parties all these songs were singing about. There was a really bizarre contrast between reality and what music was telling you reality was.
>>130691731I don't think you understood the post. It was meant to say "dance music is not inherently bad, but it is bad if it's sterile EDMslop"
>>130692068that was kind of the same deal with disco.>America is turning into Honduras in the late 70s>everything is like yeah get down and boogie and do tons of coke all night long
>>130692068no one thought about the 2008 recession in 2014, anon
I usually say the early 90s were the best time period for music, but we had our fun the early 2010s. The 2010s as a whole were a really good decade for music if youre not nostalgiapoisoned
>>130692068>>130692093>we turn to movies and video games to escape reality and feel good for a moment>but its BAD when music does it, when im sad and poor, music HAS to remind me of how sad and poor i am!
>>130690914DONT SAY IT ANON!
>>130690914From our modern perspective with no genre in mind1970 - 20002020+ seems to be experiencing a revival as far as pop is concerned
>>130691598>>130692080https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBm1rB9nFKEyet still disco had actual instruments and arrangements like here, that wubstep whatever stuff was some autotuned retard yapping over a looped beat. there was no actual music to be found there, which is why it dated instantly and no one listens to it anymore.
>>130692215is this nigga still crying about synthesizers which were invented in the 70s?
>>130692162Yes they did, the full economic recovery didn't occur until 2016 and unemployment was still elevated compared to the pre-2008 norm. Unemployment was above 6% for most of 2014 and didn't fall below 5% again until late 2016. The 2008 recession had famously long-lasting economic consequences.
>>130692215that's because they didn't have the technology to yet, moron. you think Duke Ellington wouldn't make EDM if he had access to it in his lifetime?
>>130692249as a european, not our problem.
>>130692274The European Sovereign Debt Crisis that kicked off as a result of this lasted until 2018 and some countries still haven't seen their employment numbers recover to pre-2008 levels. You are being very silly.
>>130692272what's the tl;dr here?
>>130692309and yet no one cared about it heresome jews are losing money oh no i can never enjoy fun music and dance to music ever again :()
>>130690914Music peaked between the 1700s and first half of the 20th century for anyone that isn't a culturally illiterate/retarded moron.
>>130692338Desu I think the people that lost their jobs cared about it, stop being such a silly flippant little goose anon.
>>130692316just what i said? you think Ellington or Louis Armstrong or one of those guys totally wouldn't make Autotuned trap beat tracks if he was alive in 2010s?
>>130692345loved your comment
>>130692360oh no i lost my job i can never get a new one and i listen to sad depressing music forever now >>130692363this, disco was the ancestor of house
Music peaked during -the years where the genre I most prefer was at its most prolific- and its decline started when -genre I most prefer fell out of fashion-. This is objective truth and anyone that disagrees with me is -whatever boogieman I am most personally concerned with-.
>>130692403This but unironically.
>>130690914>Released 2011 Damn...you're right
>>130692173based and agreed, the 10s were GOD-tier, especially if you're not a newfag redditor who just whines about everything. nice list btw, here's mine.
>>130692173>posts bunch of washed up 90s boomers
>>130692468**wait one of these is from 2016, just replace it with their previous album.
>>130691379The music and overall aesthetic/vibe of that era was generally pretty disgusting and there's no real reason to want to relive it. You want to relive Maroon 5, Red-era Swift, and LMFAO? I thought not.
In theory couldn't you figure out when music "peaked" by figuring out a series of criteria that people generally find as positives in music, running that against all recorded musical releases throughout time, and figuring out what period had the highest concentration of these values that deviated from the mean? Establishing the criteria would be the hardest part but it doesn't seem impossible.
>>130692492Its not my fault some of the best early 2010s albums were by 90s bands, King Animal/STP 2010 are underrated, Wasting Light is beloved by fans, Hesitation Marks is fondly remembered by fans as well, and Queens of the Stone Age were still in the prime of their career.
Music actually peaked yesterday, but you won't know until I release my album.
>>130692542>and LMFAOyes
i postulate that it's quite impossible to do what boomers did musically because boomers came up in a much more working class society, their music was like the sound of working on a muscle car or working in a factory--as late as the 80s, the biggest US companies were manufacturers instead of Google or Facecuck. since Millenials live in a postindustrial society based around websites instead of production of things, they can't make the same kind of music. they make what they know which is shitty Apple commercial music.
>>130693076Everything millennials and Gen Z did is better than boomer shit doe
>>130692215>which is why it dated instantlyIts actually still very fresh and modern sounding since its been the last actual innovation in sound design. Nothing new was made that could have made it sound "dated".
>>130693076It's not exactly like that, but more because there's an increasingly large gulf between urban areas like LA where media is mostly made and the rest of the country, whereas in the 60s everything was a lot more alike. Urban areas are very much as you said, gentrified adult playgrounds that don't make anything anymore and have no working class in them. It's also why politics are as they are now, California is increasingly a completely different country from Iowa or something which wasn't the case back then.
>>130693076I think it's a combination of that and Boomers genuinely feeling like they were breaking the mold, which gave them a sense that they could do basically whatever they wanted with the tools available to them which were all new at the time. By the time Millennials and on were born all of the molds were broken.
>>130693076that's an unfair generalization. in my state it's like the 80s never ended in a sense.
>>130693212But I mean if you moved from Iowa to LA you would be surrounded by fake plastic hipsters and become then in essence.
>>130693076Boomers really thought they were gods because they hit some strings on a guitar lmao
>>130690914Wrong, it peaked in 1998. That’s not to say there was nothing good released after that year but it was definitely on the downturn before the millennium.
>>130692403wow zoomer what a unique and deep thought now name a single genre currently going you like.
>>130694449househttps://youtu.be/p4ekz1zWOjs
>>130694449A zoomer wouldn't have an image saved of the Super Mario Brothers Super Show. That's an unc.
It peaked in 1969.
>>130695246kys boomer
EDM is the perfect plastic European socdem music, no wonder Americans don't connect with it.
>>130690914
>>130695831its true in my case
>>130690914stop being retarded
>>1306909142009 was the last good year for music.
