Fuck it, I'll bite. There are two pillars of a good music community: Critical engagement (the strife for objectivity) and taste curation (the exploration of subjectivity). Looking at what a piece of music is trying to express, how well that is achieved using the concepts that underpin it, and trying to describe it as accurately as possible is an exercise in objectivity. Exploring new music and being decisive to the extreme in what you find pleasant or not, what interests you or not, is an exercise in subjectivity. In a perfect world we would reach an equilibrium between these, but right now /mu/ lacks in both departments.
