What is the best Weird Al song and why is it Smells Like Nirvana?
My personal favorite Al song is still Albuquerque and Trapped in the Drive-Thru, for different reasons. I like the weird mix of slice-of-life with absolute absurdity that Al is able to pull off where other artists would fall short
>>130698396Why didn't he show us his cock?
>>130698464secret behind the scenes fact: he's actually wearing a speedo but you can't see it from that angle, the reason they had him wear one was because otherwise his massive cock would've covered too much of the frame
>>130698472He has a big cock?
>>130698464Weird Al is a G rated family artist. He has class. As for favorite song, I would say its one from his lesser period, I Lost On Jeopardy. Its so ridiculous.
>>130698396for me, it's amish paradise
He was never funny
>>130698396White And Nerdy was his masterpiece

parody music sucks. such a low-hanging fruit. plus they get the benefit of being able to shout "IT'S JUST A JOKE, JEEZ, LIGHTEN UP" anytime they're faced with any musical criticism. i prefer tongue-in-cheek songs by serious bands. humor has its place, but in my opinion, parody music is cheap-heat.
>>130698396it’s actually Everything You Know Is Wrong
Attack of the Radioactive Hamsters from a Planet Near Mars
>>130699835Weird Al is high-effort parody music and he's one of the better parody artists because he genuinely just wants people to not take the music too seriously and have fun while other parody artists just use humor as a mask to hide their cynicism and make it tongue-in-cheek and not fun at all
>>130698396That's not Dare to be Stupid>>130699835His style parodies are definitely not low effort.
>>130699823admittedly only heard this the other day and laughed my ass off
>>130698804>he hasn't seen the leaks
>>130699823i never really appreciated his original or style parody songs much as a kid (mostly got a kick out of hearing pop songs with silly lyrics) but as an adult i realize those are truly some of his best work. the humor is often surprisingly more subtle or ironic than i understood back then
>>130698396For me it's Running With Scissors, probably because I had this CD when I was like 11 and played the shit out of it since I didn't have much else to listen to at that time. Good memories listening to Albuquerque and that Jerry Springer song that was a parody of One Week.
>>130698804Big as a Pringles can
>>130703048I bought that album on release day, AL had a whole wall dedicated to copies, like music stores used to do.
>>130702983Post them
His originals are better than his parodies. If you were to list the top 5 Weird Al songs, I bet only 1 or 2 would be parodies. >>130698396I still don't understand how parody music gathers stadiums full of people.
>>130703439by being good
>>130699835I think parody music can work, but Weird Al just doesn't do it for me most of the time. A lot of his concepts for direct parodies come across as him trying to force something to be funny just because the words rhyme with the original lyrics. He's better at parodying styles than songs.
>>130698396>Smells Like NirvanaClose but no cigar
>>130703478plus it's not like there's a whole industry of parody artists out there. al is basically the only one at a mainstream level and has been the onlyo ne for decades
>>130703439Weird Al is based
>>130703173>Everything You Know is WrongReally great track "Black is white up is down and short is long"

I know it’s not a Weird Al song, but Elmo’s Got A Gun is one of my personal favorite parody songs.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNaJnS1wzAo
>>130698396White And Nerdy is probably the funniest he's ever done.Smells Like Nirvana is unfunny jewery.
>>130703048Unironically a killer summer album and perfect driving music, definitely his strongest outing
>>130703439he puts on a great show
TACOGRRRRRANDE
>>130698821The popularity of that song actually caused the revival of Jeopardy. Hence why Al was parodying Art Fleming and not Alex Trebek.
>>130699835I agree with most but obviously Weird Al is the creme de la creme for a reason. He was able to parody Devo without even doing a direct parody of a specific song. He's also able to play varying genres of music and the accordion which he is a virtuoso on.
>>130708633yeah I forgot about that. shit...
>>130708612that song made me laugh back in the day. not so much because of the lyrics but the way he sang it.
>>130708652The style parodies are the coolest, that takes real creativity and skillhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuSlrEoPWoQhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqDBB0no6dQhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtMU8nvZzOshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfQUvmetjRMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbDostWXpcU
>>130698396I like I'll Sue Ya because all the lawsuits in the lyrics are based on real cases
>>130709324His polka medleys are also cool, I like how he was able to rework songs such as Closer, Candy Shop or Down with the Sickness
Some based Bad Hair Day enjoyers in here. His best song though is The Night Santa Went Crazy. All others answers are incorrect.
>>130698821>Weird Al is a G rated family artist.running with scissors is PG, although i guess that's more to do with the edgy 90s seeping in. i like when he says tranny on it
The most interesting thing about Weird Al is how his discography has become a musical time capsule of the last 40+ years of popular music. You could just listen to his albums and you would have a pretty good idea of what music was new or popular at the time.
>>130709870>albuquerque has a hermaphrodite as a gag>truck drivin song is entirely roasting cross-dressersmore like chud al. although i saw him on tour in 2021 and before he played albuquerque, he made a disclaimer about how it was written back in the 90s

>It's hard to bargle nawdle zouss>With all these marbles in my mouthbetter than the original
video for Like a Surgeon still cheers me up. at that time...yeah i'm old...Madonna was actually controversial...rubbing her stinky nigger cum filled coochie in front of kids in the audience sqwauking and moaning bout 'Virginity' (which every hollywood teen movie at the time was about) so the absurd even surreal depiction Al does with the surgeon motif was just perfect. put her in her place and kinda responsible for giving her Erotic album a flat reception.
