Holy shit these guys are wayyyy under discussed for how outstanding their post rock is. In the 90s they were a pretty dope noise rock band but they evolved to whatever pic related is and Albini produced it.
highlights of the 20 minute opener
>5 minute mark (this section definitely builds a bit)
>12:15 (chaos breakdown)
>14:30 (i wanna say King Crimsony bridge, gets really good at 17)
The whole song right before the 19 minute mark turns up and gets funky as hell beaks loose. For anyone trying to grasp a piece of the kind of music that old /mu/ would go bananers for this record is certainly one of them and not the effeminate fag indie side. Not that all that gay shit had no worth

Cheer Accident are great but I'd say they have a fair bit of prog influence too.

They have a handful of really good albums. And some of their earlier records are more noisy rock like " dumb ask"

yeah dumb ask is the other I know, I just downloaded salad days and a couple of their earliest. I'm just surprised how litte internet praise they have compared to other experimental and noise/punk adjacent bands

anyone got similar recs?

not super close, but gets at the same feel. I assume you already know the obvious ones

Two members of Dazzling Killmen with the drummer of Cheer-Accident, this is an excellent group. Wish more people knew about this band.

I was stewing on the title: introducing lemon the other day thinking how much it sounded like some obscure meaning and then I read something that the idea was just that their music catches you off guard and they introduce the 'lemon' throwing you for a loop

Skylarking era XTC reminds me of them more than anything else

>>130704120
that connection goes over my head

OK fair a lot of their later stuff is more post-rock/alternative, I guess I'm associating the more pop/psych sound on The Why Album which was how I got into them

They def should be talked about more. Their albums are very interesting and creative with a character and humor that is fun
