This mostly sounds like shitty stock music or an average YT downtempo playlist.
I think it's wonderful
Reddit garbage for autists.
>>130701196I remember when MySpace didn't have a doom metal tag and every doom band had to use downtempo as the default tag for metal below 120 bpm.
>>130701196>>130701313Is it 2013 again?
>>130701471yes please summer 2013 is just starting and this is just a nightmarei'm about to wake up finally
>>130701196it's actually pretty badI expected mu to be trolling and overreacting
>three weeks seething about BOCWhat causes this
>>130701545good music
>>130701525it's actually more than pretty good, but ruined by vocal and voice samples, every single one of them is cheesy tacky garbage
>>130701871Disagree but I don’t expect they will be to everyone’s taste. People hate on boc when they’re making ambient backpacker hip-hop, they also hate on them when they’re making more poppy music with actual lyricism. I think the album was pretty great overall, better than Tomorrow’s Harvest for sure
the best XXI century album since Radiohead In Rainbows. I love this more than any physical being
>>130702448lmao how mid can ones taste be. Purple Mountains is what real amazing music sounds like
>>130701871>it's actually more than pretty goodDude it's literally, like literally, just generic downtempo and ambient you can listen everywhere.
>>130702468i have heard that depressed nigga album too and inferno mogs it why is purple mountains even in this conversation lmfao
>>130703665>literally >like>literally We got a teenage girl over here!
great music to listen to while i wait for my oat milk latte in the coffee shop next door while my wife gets bred by bbc
>>130703701Hot
>>130701196It's no Olivia Rodrigo, that's for sure.
the manufactured mystique/fuax hype marketing warp does on new releases from the classic artists has turned into such a passe circlejerk that I can't even bring myself to listen to it yet
>>130701196the songs don't use scales (all 12 notes frequently in there), which is a hint that it wasn't written but glued together like blindly throwing a dildo on a drawing board and see where it goes
>>130701871nope, the music isn't that great that it would be ruined by random samples.it's just a musical shitpost. i just hope they didn't spend 13 years writing and mixing it, now THAT would be sad.
1,000x better than baldo corgan or zoomer shit e
>>130701196Well yeah, only good song is the single.BoC have always been more disappointing than satisfying
>>130701871i thought the word becomes flesh and the process vocal's were kino
>>130712331nothing is absolute shit, but most of it sounds fucking lazy.>>130711634>BoC have always been more disappointing than satisfyingpretty much. even Geoggadi gets fucking boring before the end. they're great musicians but they're over-indulgent
>>130713173They’re a “vibe” band. You think you like them and maybe you do, but there’s no songs that work really well out of context/hold up next to contemporaries…Some time back I was picking out music for mixes n stuff and thought ‘oh BoC should have plenty tunes that fit for this’, and turns out no, not a single one. This time around I got Dayvan Cowboy and tape05, but that’s still way less than it should be
>>130713497>but there’s no songs that work really well out of context/hold up next to contemporaries…>This time around I got Dayvan Cowboy and tape05, but that’s still way less than it should bei guess it really depends what youre trying to accomplish with your playlists but this hasn't been my experience. currently im making an all time favorite song/ most played playlist and boc has slot in well with the various low-fi/slacker/hypnogogic pop/dreampop/shoegaze songs that also occupy the playlist. i agree boc probably wouldn't mesh well with olivia rodrigo or something but if you can find a common thread i think boc is a very versatile playlist addition
>>130713497this is the ONE song i would pick out of their entire catalogue, very dark and almost brutal:(and even that one is far from perfect)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrV21ZVxRIs
>>130713940>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrV21ZVxRIsThis sounds like it's by and for mentally ill autists.
>>130713952it mostly sounds like aphex twin if he was shit at making drums and tuned normally
>>130713497you nailed it. it's a band that's better in your mind than it is in reality.this guy for example, even though clearly inspired by them on his first album, absolutely destroyed them with this one:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFUf3oYSsgI
>>130701196what albums do you consider above average downtempo?
>>130714081>above average downtemposee, there's no such thing
>>130714025>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFUf3oYSsgIVideogame background music tier, more fitting for a Halo spiritual successor game's levels than a dedicated listening session.
>>130714147it's actually the soundtrack to a super nerdy film, a bit like the "adult" and underground version of stranger things
>>130701196now, that the dust has settled, they sound like some random tracks, but with higher production. and i like it.
>>130701196whoa, the fuck, thanks for informing me
>>130701196>stock musicYeah? That's the motif...?>downtempoYes it is a mix of the former and the latter. You got it. Sorry it's not your thing. I get being cynical and harsh on it. A lot of artists have done it and maybe there are better acts than BoC now. I'd like to know of them.
This is pretty good so far, fuck you niggers. This would be a decent work to retire on, if they were going to. I'm glad their latest output is no longer Societas x Tape, as fun as that was.
Haircuts for Men is good if you guys like this stuff.https://haircutsformen.bandcamp.com/music
>>130716151>and maybe there are better acts than BoC now. I'd like to know of them.yes, pointing out who's better would be more useful than endlessly shitting on them (which i view as a legitimate reaction to the agressive warp marketing campaign)
>>130716589>one million releases>titles in japanesei can already tell it's random crap by a poser or a tranny
>>130701196you are entitled to your incorrect opinion
>>130719408>aggressiveTo be fair, I have adblockers on, don't follow any /mu/tant channels like fagtano, and love BoC and had no idea til I randomly strolled to this board to post a song I like. That said, why *wouldn't* they aggressively market a flagship act like BoC after such a hiatus?>>130719420I get the cynicism but maybe listen to a few tracks?
Yeah but some uncs smoked their first preroll while listening to the campfire headphase so you have to suck their dick forever here sorry bro
>>130716513It easily has the highest production value out of any Boc record. I know this isn’t a commentary on the actual music but fuck me if the engineering isn’t superb. Maybe the ideas aren’t as novel as their earlier records, and maybe they do go overboard with the vocals a little bit. But so far this has a lot more replayability value than, say, Tomorrow’s Harvest. Every mix is just so rich with detail and ornamentation
>>130721005Some of it feels plundered from their own works, is my only real complaint with it. Most of the vocals are either playful, cleverly chopped to the beat or ominous. Not all of it works though. On my 3rd listen on my 5.1 setup and digging it.>Tomorrow HarvestYeah, Reach for the Dead and Nothing Is Real were kinda it on that one.
>>130721136>Some of it feels plundered from their own worksTo me YRITAS is essentially boc getting nostalgic over themselves, but it never feels indulgent or vain. That said, as much as I like the live percussion on HHHL I can’t deny it is basically a retread of Alpha & Omega.
>>130720975Not enough ironic haircuts, face tattoos, and coon rhymes for you, zigger?
>tonally a 7 throughout the review>scores it a 6 because I'm the clickbait guy baybee
>>130701196I've been into electronic music my whole life and never heard of this fuckass band until 2 months ago. I'm not convinced these people actually exist and aren't a fucking psyop.
>>130722458>fuckassWell from the way you talk you're 20 tops so it's not surprising.
>>130722562My age doesn't make this shit any less boring or fake.
>>130722458>I've been into rock music my whole life and never heard of AC/DC
>>130722458the most astounding part about this post is not the "i've been living under a rock" part but the shamelessness
