The Singles: 1969-73 [A&M, 1974]The combination of Karen's dispassionate dulcet contralo and Richard's meticulous studio technique is about as musical as the clattering of silverware in a cafeteria, but it's also just as impervious to criticism. I will say that I very much enjoy "Rainy Days and Mondays" and very much detest "Music" and "We've Only Just Begin", but those aren't so much aesthetic judgments as they are points on a graph. C

Fuck the Karen Carpenter spammer.
>>130706933His darlings Sonic Youth are big Karen fans
>>130707378i know. he's also criticized them for it.
>>130706933does ts dude genuinely look like that
>>130706933>Karen's dispassionate dulcet contraloBingo. It’s pretty but soulless.
>>130708267Just cause you can’t hear it doesn’t mean it’s not there. Karen had more soul in a belch than most singers out there
why critics not like them? too girly plus they performed at the Nixon White House and you were not going to win friends and influence people doing that.
>>130712319No it’s because they were wholesome white folk who could actually play their instruments really well, and not readymade industry plants, this was completely and utterly unacceptable for the, well, you know who, the “critics” as you say
>>130712319>>130713296it's because the music sucked.
>>130713296>>130712319James Brown got away with being a Republican and Cuckgau never called him out for that; even Ray Charles got criticized for being a porch monkey for being friends with the Reagans. But then again, there's a power gap between him and Karen Carpenter musically.
>>130713396Brown was a nigger on drugs, why would they have an issue with that? You don’t seem to understand how allergic real art and beauty are to them
>>130712319There we go. They were chick music, that's what it fundamentally was. That's not a bad thing as a girl who listened to the Carpenters was more likely to be marriage material than one who listened to the Doors, but obviously guys are not going to like that kind of stuff.
