I had never listened to or seen Oliver Tree talk before his passing. I often saw his face in Youtube thumbnails and what not but never clicked. Anyway I have listened to some songs and also watched a lot of his interviews.. especially his podcast appearances on H3H3. The guy seemed really nice, cool and very passionate about what he did. Even though i've barely watched the guy, I feel extremely sad about his passing. I keep thinking about how he must have felt when the helicopter was going down. It's so sad.

People might hate on his music and look or whatever because it comes across as silly and what not. But he mostly created his stuff himself and it was him and his vision. His last album he created the whole thing himself as well as even mixing it.

Everyone keeps saying this but it probably lasted all of three seconds and he was gone. People who die in commercial airline accidents die a much more slow exrcuriating death

well i hope he didn't suffer long. Seriously close to tears just thinking about it. Just seeing how fun and nice of guy he was... the child-like passion he had with his music, videos, etc makes it so much sadder.

Just started listening to the guy. Really caught me off guard and I'll be honest: it's hitting me in a weird way. I'm feeling some genuine grief about the guy and don't even know him.

Yeah it is really fucked up. Just goes to show you what kind of world we live in, where nice kind people, who just want to make others happy, are murdered in secret government black ops missions.
I could just scowl at the world right now; They're such fucking scum.

Who?

he stole his biggest hit from Southstar, together with Robin Schultz.

A few of my friends like him and play his music when we hang out and stuff but I always thought it was total dog shit.
Seemed like a good guy though, I'm sad he died so young, but one upside is that I won't have to hear any shitty new music from him anymore!! Honestly, I think his music has no staying power and he'll be forgotten pretty quickly. I'm amazed he got as popular as he did. I think it's mainly just due to his goofy meme gimmick, and getting picked up hard by music algorithms that kids look at. No idea how a normal adult could be into this shit.

Oliver Twist

He was so popular that there were exactly zero (0) threads about him on /mu/ until he died.

The only song I knew before his death was the "meme" one : https://youtu.be/TOoC7aXkpMs?si=0aQ6rprAC_vW6XXY
But this one is eerie : https://youtu.be/2XBth9acEcs?si=wP6qtdiff1de5fGd

Don’t make a remix of an artist without getting permission. His own fault.
>>
>>130729714
apparently Southstar stole it first and didn't even credit him. And Robin Schultz was the actual stealer.

hope he sees this, br...oh, wait

ehhh i dont know but i liked playing alien boy on fortnite festival, its not bad
>>
he was a cool guy, even if his music sucked. I always liked him based on interviews with him and his H3 podcast episodes, despite not a pop music kind of person

His music is shit, and he's an icon of astroturfed west coast music culture, that kind of vibe where it's more about being a brand identity wearing plastic clothes instead of the music.
Vacuous music, oriented around brand and vibe, not really about anything of substance. It's white girl music for men. Justin Bieber slop.
That said, just because his music was shit and he was a vanguard for consumerist normie degradation of art, he at least wasn't an asshole in his personal life. He was actually relatively likable. More than I can say for annoying faggots like Tyler the Creator. I think Oliver Tree made shitty music and was wrapped up in an industry zeitgeist I fucking hate, but he was fully absorbed by that through no fault of his own. I think if he had languished in obscurity for a little longer he would have become a better musician, but when an artist gets discovered by the west coast Jew bubble, it's like watching a loaf of bread get yanked from an oven an hour before it's done. The man was undercooked and didn't have enough life experience to have anything worth saying in his lyrics yet. I think his talent was squandered and he was probably never going to improve because he had no real incentive to, but now we'll never know. That's what's sad, that now there's always going to be a big question mark about whether or not he could have evolved and made something great. Instead, he's going to sink into obscurity.

I was in High School when he started to get popular. I think Alien boy was the first song I heard, and I know I heard it before it was a big hit but yeah, I remember people in high school sometimes playing his music but he wasn't a household name or anything. I never liked his whole silly persona, and the whole H3 thing, I had already stopped watching H3 by the time he showed up (or rather, I was winding down, that's a whole other rant desu, Ethan Klein fucking broke me heart)

Fuck off fantano

The guy did more in his whole life than the majority of /my/ put together
