/mu/, I need your help. I tried finding a contemporary hip hop or trip hop album that sounds as good as DJ Shadow's Endtroducing or Preemptive Strike but have yet to find it. I have tried looking at Shadow's other releases, DJ Krush, the Headz compilations, Luke Vibert, DJ Food, and just about any other Mo Wax release there was and it still doesn't compare to how good this record is. I've tried 90s rap classics, trip hop darlings, acid jazz chillouts and even jungle compilations and still nothing. So I have to ask: are there any new releases out there that are better than this? Surely in the 30 years of technological advancement in sampling, cataloging from Discogs/Whosampled/RYM/Allmusic/AlbumoftheYear/LastFM/MetalArchives, the sheer breadth of Bandcamp and Soundcloud releases, the explosion of DAWs and revival of vinyl collecting, SOMEONE out there made an album, mixtape, DJ set, compilation, EP or single that is even close to being as good.
