If you aren't listening to metal, you don't know anything about rock music right now. When I was growing up in the 2000s the most interesting music going was indie and punk. The garage rock revival happened, there was lots of interesting art rock, and the underground hardcore scene was good. Indie is now stale, and the best indie bands are pale shadows of what came before. Now the best rock music is happening in metal, particularly in black and sludge metal.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3KfaNH_IHohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1x8q64NXxA
>>130735602Retard, metal was literally the interesting thing in the 00s. Garage and punk were the 70s
>>130735602indie fans and metal fans never mixed that much. maybe briefly in the early 90s when "alt metal" was a thing but otherwise theyve always had some beef80s esp since metal was the popular "jock" music
>>130735709lol you're literally a retarded zoomer who doesn't know anything about what the 2000s were like, kys
>>130735709maybe in the trailer park metal in the 00s was shit like disturbed or slipknot or nu metal trash listened to by kyles in monster/tapout gear
>>130735602Its amazing that you can be so condescending when you missed the peak of both black metal and sludge by a long shot and are only getting into them now that both are trending and experiencing their lowest points.
>posts a shitty band that no one other than RABM fans care about because the best bands they have to offer are mid at best.>posts an album that's 20 years oldLol.
>>130735602Metal peaked mid - late 90s when labels like Earache, Nuclear Blast, and Relapse were not just still good, they were still awesome. NB releases Rob Zombie albums now and Relapse cancels an album release because some liner notes might hurt somebodys feelings. Majority of the metal bands today look like they're ready to go back to their office jobs if the gig doesn't work out. I detect little if any heart and soul in most of the newer metal I've heard.>>130735716>80s esp since metal was the popular "jock" musicjust no
hipsters attempted to take over metal in the 2010s, they tried to gentrify metal like they did to hip hop, but it failed because metal heads are even bigger elitists than hipsters wereanyways, what was the last big new movement in metal? blackgaze? that ran its course.
>>130736329Sludge isnt metal, its hardcore kids larping as Black Sabbath
>>130736918What does this have to do with the post you responded to
>>130736918>"Sludge isn't metal. It's just people ripping off a metal band."wut

>>130735602>When was the last time we had a metal band that played guitar riffs fast and who could sing clearly without screeching and had interesting songs or innovative genres like Trancecore, Melodious Synth or Downright Video Game Speed Metal. It is 2026. Been a long time.
>>130735602shiiiieet, this is actually good :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wk7C64kaP4imagine that this used to be the mainstream pop garbage of our time.a level of artistry no one can touch now
