anyone got good guides on making guitar vsts sound as realistic as possible? i use ample and shreddage, yes i know they generally pale compared to the real thing but virtual guitars are all i have and i have heard really good stuff from others using them. but i cant understand a single thing about how to make them sound 'realistic', keyswitching and stuff goes over my head and i don't really get the functions like the strummer and riffer in ample. anyone know of any good tutorials that explain it to me like im retarded?

you're delusional lmfao you think you know shit but you deny basic things like that classic era artists used pitch correction just because they didn't have cartoonish robotic autotune that snaps to the notes. you believe that there's nothing special about preamps but doctor luke specifically fell in love with chandler tg2 which is based on an abbey road preamp as used by goated artists the beatles and pink floyd. now many of the other successful producers use chandler tg2 as well.

even in 2026 you can't really find a single person (let alone four people or two if you only count the girls) who can sound like ABBA. only a handful of artists like sabrina carpenter can do something similar while hiring the most elite producers to manufacture the sound. your music doesn't sound very good at all and that's why you're not successful, it's not your cope excuses like not having a marketing budget etc

kick-bass mud.
guitar high mid harrshness.
cymbal reaches too far down
keys/reverb are causing mid buildup once everything comes in (mult it). especially the clap, which you'd probably want to eq the other elements for.

not that you asked but the rhythm isn't playing cohesively either. most egregiously on those climbs, which would be really cool actually if they actually fit with the main rhythm idea. the hats are really taking away from that on the whole aesthetic front actually.

It's fucking 6/8 favella bass, not much lower end subtility that I noticed but I'll check. On earbuds bassy things sound distorted and thin, higher pitched percussions sound earpearcingly forward yet on speakers it all sounds homogeneous and balanced.

I use it to jam with my guitar or MIDI keyboard. It's just a delay, saturation, phaser and chorus. The fact that it has 60ms of latency is ridiculous. It's almost 2GB and is 50$ on sale. I pity the fools who actually buy that.

i never really got around to input testing ableton drum buss just because i knew right away i didn’t like it (but today i was working on something extremely old that used it and it just sounds right with it whatever)-
tell me why this *one* plugins unity level that it wants you to gain stage to is like -15/-18 for saturation onset (at ZERO percent drive, when it defaults to 20 (don’t even get me started on percentage bs)).

Awful design. They really tried to pull the “default setting gives you a tiny boost to trick you into thinking it’s a magic more better-izer ;)” to the extreme.

it’s called lack of perspective and shit taste.
your focus gets narrowed as you make it, honing in on something “good” about it- maybe just one thing that catches *your* attention, or the fact that you had fun with it, and you end up losing sight of the musical context (if you’re even capable of it) or whether or not it even sounds good to somebody who just hears it as it is. ear fatigue and lack of experience exacerbate this.

>>130794719
ok so with your science-based approach why aren't you sounding anything like a successful artist. even before autotune, artists like the beatles and ABBA used every trick they could get their hands on to succeed, they used very expensive equipment. you claim to be able to sing, you claim that your gear sounds good, so what gives, why does your music sound like shit.
>>
>>130794729
you know what actually i think you’re right.
gear is the only factor. my music is amazing i just need to use better rack gear. thank you.
>>
>>130794764
this is crazy how little you understand. you're being sarcastic because you think you know better than those cargo cultists who are spending thousands of dollars on placebo gear. that's not how it works. if someone is a galactibrain like picasso, they will naturally want to seek out the art supplies so that they can actually make the art. but a casual hobbyist will settle for a drawing tablet so they can make furry cartoons on tumblr and deviantart. you are like that casual hobbyist so you think you can get a good enough sound with basic gear and plugins but you're not making the real top tier art like john mayer etc.

Updated setup from
>Live 3
>Onyx 16
>404
>bass
To
>push 3 standalone
>L6Max
>404
>bass
Been going through a lot of different gear the last year but I'm settling with this. Got rid of the live 3 because while I like the workflow of the MPC and how quick it is to start something, getting them into ableton was a pain in the ass. Also the sync would pick and choose when to work. Needed something i could integrate into my setup easier. Lucky checked Facebook marketplace and some guy was looking to trade his standalone push 3 for a live 3 yesterday. Spent the night fucking around and it's way better for my setup. Also got rid of the onyx 16 only for saving desk space and I was only using 4 of my 16 ports. Now I'm down to 2 so even less of a need for it. Also with this mixer it's portable so my setup never really has to be adjusted for travel. Last thing that made the push worth it was the connection. So right now its
>PC plugged into 404
>404 OUT into channel 5/6 of L6
>Push 3 OUT into 404 IN
>Push 3 connected via usb to mac
Even in standalone mode, now I have access to all my sound no matter what and I can manipulate everything I hear with the 404. The end goal was making sure I could do that or else it wouldn't have been worth keeping. Now im waiting for 98GB of samples to transfer over wifi then I'm going back to push 3 videos. With even the little bit of knowledge I have now about ableton, I have been picking up on the controls pretty fast.

>>
>>130799541
I just did some googling and I'm a retard I can easily fix this with a longer conductor wire. I'll post a fixed setup later
>>
>>130799105
it's just a sine with glide/legato turned on.
second one has a bit of second harmonic.
iirc the harmonic series table in serum isn't crossfaded or it's snappy or normalized but you can just draw the bins in yourself.
modulate the clean sine on your table to bring up that harmonic/add vibrato for flavor/playability

>>

>>
>>130801998
Yes and no. It depends on what you're recording
Is anything going into hardware? So many factors. It seems to come down to the specific element and how it's being processed.

On the other side, if you're completely in the box making synths and routing them into digital emulations...big maybe and then it all depends on what the implementation calls for. Like most things are generally -18LUFs input. Why? Is it a compressor? Is there any preamp emulation that might introduce distortion if you go over?

Life other anon said, noise floor can be a huge make or break down the chain especially when recording real instruments.
