Are there any charts or RYM lists for good walking music? Ideally something with a bit of a beat that would be suitable as background music for an indie film. Pic a very good example, and I'm actually going through an RYM list of jangle pop albums right now. Problem is, once I use an album for a few days of walks and bus rides, it loses it's luster, and I have to find something new.
>>130793833whoops, I forgot to specify: specifically albums, please.
>>130793833how's this walkanon?
>>130793880I've only heard their singles, but yes, exactly what I'm looking for, thank you. The whole album is good?

>>130794136I'm more partial to (indie) rock with a poppy bent for this kinda thing but I appreciate the post, so I'll give a couple of these a try the next time I go out.
>>130793833I tried looking but RYM’s search system is so atrocious it just kept giving me Talk Talk and Talking Heads lists
>>130794166lol thanks for trying. I generally only come across lists either by userpages or the albums that are listed on them.
>>130793833Love me some Wedding Present. I think it was 92 they had that big run of singles, those are all greathttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgoA4emdUqw>something with a bit of a beat that would be suitable as background music for an indie film>jangle pop albumsif that stuff is working for you, have you hit the C86 compilation yet?
>>130794209>if that stuff is working for you, have you hit the C86 compilation yet? That's what I was looking at today. specifically the albums on this list,https://rateyourmusic.com/list/SMW616/guide-to-indie-and-twee-pop/1/I also need to find some new midwest emo.
>>130794224that list has a lot of variety on it, what's been good for you so far?Have you tried Beat Happening yet? It's a little too far on the corny side for some people but I think it fits your description from what I know so far.>midwest emodoesn't have the midwest twinkly guitar signifier but I super recommend Braid - Frame & Canvas. I used to be a big emo head but I kinda wrote Braid off early for some reason, just discovering now that it's sick though. Def get the cap'n jazz comp if you haven't already though, that's the origin point of midwest emo and it never got topped imo
>>130794280I only discovered it before my last walk so I listened to some Beat Happening, Close Lobsters, and finished with some Destroyer. So I'll check out some more tomorrow.> Braid - Frame & Canvas.> cap'n jazz complol sadly those are two albums I've already used to death for these walks, and once I get tired of them for that purpose, they don't do the trick anymore. But yes I love(d) them both for sure.
>>130794305lol hell yeah well if you're open to more emo than just stuff with the twinkly guitarsbells on trike - s/tbrave little abacus - demochristie front drive - s/tappleseed cast - ring wars and mare vitalisjejune - can't remember the album name off the dome rn but just check out whateverthese are all picks that aren't too heavy/harsh, since it seems like you're going for a prettier vibe for these walksas for the pretty indie movie jangly esque shit, have you tried the feelies yet?https://youtu.be/17VFXfNsVSA
>>130794358Thanks for the recs. Love Brave Little Abacus, that's another band I can't use for these walks. The rest I'll check out tomorrow for sure, much appreciated. As for The Feelies, back when I was into this kind of music more seriously back in the day, I did try their one famous album one time and remember liking it. I'll give them another try too.
>>130794163you tried the apples in stereo?
>>130794374I used to love that album back in the day. I had forgotten about it. Great shout, thanks, and I'll try their other albums too if they have any.
morning bump
this nigga needs some zesty jangle pop to go for a walk
>>130796396It's not about need, I just like to daydream and think when I walk, and this kind of music helps me do it.

>>130797189Thank you, I'll try them out. A little too RYMcore, aka artsy taste, for walks -- I prefer that kind of music for at-home listening -- but I'm sure there's some great choices for me in there.
>>130793833george best is easily in the top 3 players of all time ty for reading my blog
>>130793833weddoes are greati think it really depends on what you like...I'm a big fan of wedding present so could probably rec somehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EW24VPFq7h4&list=PLOJWuc3CN301m0HU77sCpyT3O8bhuCF06https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChBmULPXzfM&list=PLy4u88AKUauKn0UVjeh3lba9IEGxJuTfC (the following album would also be quite good)https://youtu.be/r9cIT_XK_WU?t=1447 (my favorite band, their best stuff is their later stuff which is a bit quiter/slower though so might not work as well for you)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJk6wfErYNQ&list=PLykvq7hXSUIFfXON099g7R-J7u3yJGKk7https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLv637kFzR8 (same guitarist as is in quickspace any of their albums would be good particularly s/t or precious falling)

>>130798399Much appreciated, thank you!
final bumpOne of the biggest issues with this whole thing, silly as it may sound, is I'll find good albums for this purpose when at home, and then as soon as I walk out the door and open up YouTube Music on my phone, nine-out-of-ten times I immediately forget whatever band or album I had in mind lol, so I'm forced to default back to something I'm familiar with. It'd be nice if there was some RYM x YouTube Music integration. Anyway...
>>130793833I don't know but this is my favorite album of the 80s so thank you for posting it
