Why isn't Janis Joplin /mu/core?
Why does /mu/ hate real music?
>>
I remember reading a magazine articles years ago while waiting in a doctor's office about Jimmy Johnson and it came up in the course of the articles that he went to high school with her and they used to bully the shit out of her for being a poor smelly whore. His basic reaction was complete bafflement that she ever managed to become famous.

The football coach?
>>
>>130796720
No wonder all her songs are about being lonely and needing a man. Sure she fucked lots of random men after the fame, but trauma doesn't heal that way. She probably felt lonely all her life.
>>
>>130796720
say what? Janis was very open about being a total outcast in school, that the normie Stacy girls bullied her for her appearance, music tastes, interracial dating habits, etc.

Yeah

she wasn't poor. just eccentric. her dad was like a petroleum engineer or something I think.

seem like it's almost always the rich kids who transgress against social norms

screeching boomer blooz bitch

Janis Joplin is overrated boomer hippie shit with an ugly dyke voice and I say that as a psychedelic rock pro. Mariska from Shocking Blue (despite being sold as an imitator) mogged her HARD

The Moody Blues were very innovative for the time, really pushing psychedelic to its limits, and even hardened prog guys like me consider a lot of early Moody Blues (beyond their first album) to be prog
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EXCIWlm1fs

Similar with Pink Floyd's Saucerful Of Secrets. Corporal Clegg is absolutely brilliant imo

Cream's final album Goodbye I think is a lot better than a lot of people realize, they often think of them as the band that made Disraeli Gears and Wheels Of Fire then ignore their first and final albums

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NkaZJrbf0Y

Traffic also had a good and accessible single before they went jazz/prog with Dear Mr. Fantasy. I think some MCU song had this in the soundtrack so its recent popularity exploded though

As far as other California bands, which often tend to be sloppy, I very much like CCR's more psychedelic moments, and of course The Doors.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2jYvKWryJ4 (campy revival track in the same vein as the above)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOJSmXSFCWk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuB1YF0RGIA (could take or leave Country Joe but this track is a 10/10)

I'm also a big fan of the 90s/2000s revival stuff like The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Olivia Tremor Control

i'd say,
1.) rich kids tend to be smarter as it takes some smarts to make money so their parents are probably smarter and IQ is hereditary. and smart kids can better deduce that lots of social rules are dumb and just became established norms from tradition etc.

and 2.) if they break too many rules and get in trouble, they can get rich daddy to bail them out.

>rich kids tend to be smarter as it takes some smarts to make money so their parents are probably smarter and IQ is hereditary.
That's a really funny joke as they didn't make that money on their own so by that deduction, only their nearest ancestor who make the first cash deposit is smart, there is a varying degree of intelligence within wealthy families and don't forget the inbreeding which is something they accuse lower class people of doing as a form of projection.

Thats fine. I know most of these already though, my father is a Moody Blues fan and likes Traffic and Cream. Do you like Spirit and Randy California by chance?
>>
>>130802379
A lot of millennials follow Gen X artists
>>
basic 12 bar blues is lame and sterile, all the great bluesmen had their own unique sound instead of that slop
>>
I hate blues, it's the worst form of music especially in shitty bars with 50 year old faggots dressed like SRV in leather pants and wide-brimmed hats who play shitty 15 minute solos.
>>
>>130802413
Also hating blues is one of the surest signs of being a zoomer NPC
>>
>>130802370
not op but ill try and drop some that are ok, more obscure. not super big on this kind of music anymore tho.

Her songs are nice, but what her voice is undeniably unique/great. She smoked the exact right number of cigarettes.
