i was such a headphone-eared contrarian high schooler when this came out so i was pretty much tuned out of any pop music for a few years, aside from accidentally catching some in grocery stores or in public transport naturally.i always heard my mom or siblings saying "despacito" randomly in jokey contexts, so i caught on that it's some hit spanish song.i think i legit only heard like 2 seconds of the hook in some viral meme that cuts from "Des-pa-" to something random.i listened to this and heard it in full for the first time in 2021 and thought it's a great fun summer track. what i'm saying with all this is that i'm able to enjoy this great pop song outside of and detached from its notorious overplayed context since every instance i've heard it has been literally me voluntarily listening to it now and then.
>>130817753Being of Anglo-Saxon descent i can't relate. Wrong culture. I barely know what it even sounds like and I don't go outside very much.
>>130817084every bar in Latin America just plugs a phone into the speakers and plays youtube on repeat
