Closure/Continuation disappointed me.
Just me? Or others?
>>
Wasn't this an anti-American song?

I'm 30ish, and this is my favorite music genre. But when I've said 'prog' a couple of times, I've had some Gen X-ers scoff and turn up their nose.
Is this a thing? Or was it isolated assholes? I don't mind saying 'progressive rock' to avoid being the nail that gets hammered down, but I'm just curious.

Prog was the coolest music in the world for like 3 years, then it was the most uncool music in the world for 30 years, and now it's sort of cool again.

no, I mean they specifically hated the work 'prog', like I wasn't giving respect to the name that was 'progressive rock'.
They were like, 'don't call it prog', and treated me like a normalfag.

>now it's sort of cool again.
i assume you mean amongst ages 12-20, no one my age likes this stuff
>>
I don't know which I like more,
Wish You Were Here, or Meddle
As an album, I like Wish You Were Here better, but Meddle has Echoes and a track that features a dog as a guest vocalist. So I don't know.

There actually was a few recorded cases in the 80s of some progressive rock musicians hating being called "prog" and making a distinction between progressive rock and "prog". Notably Ian Anderson.

Apparently some people used "prog" shorthand derogatively to refer to the extremely campy, overblown, bombastic progressive rock that was ultimately meaningless self-indulgence.

huh. I mean that is an explanation, but I don't know if culturally that is normal among the demographic, or is it? The dude that gave me issue was in a used record shop, I don't know if he worked there or not (I think he did, because I saw him there every time I was there). He was like 45ish. So not alive during the 70s.
Regardless, before I really dived into prog/ressive rock, it felt like there was a pretentiousness to it. That may have been just me though.
I'm glad I explored different artists in the genre, and want to experience more.

zoomers listening to progressive rock? I don't believe it. What age are you? You know, vaguely, if you're comfortable sharing.
>>
>>130818952
nta but i'm 20 and i listen to prog (less than i used to) and know other people my age who are hardcore into it.

huh. pretty based I guess. I had to sift through some shit to find what I liked. So you could certainly do worse.
I guess the question then becomes whether you can really truly experience an album without droping acid first.

Well, that settles it.
