Why do some artists ban phones on their concerts? Like how the fuck does it affect you that your fans are recording moments they're enjoying?
>>130867432Yeah it's weird that they care so much about what the fans are doing. If the concergoers want to frivolously watch the entire gig thru their phone (not a good thing I admit) who's to say they should be prevented from experiencing the show in the inferior way? If they want to make a bad decision let them. Me however I'll take a few photos or a video and put my phone away for the rest of the show. Last show I went to I took a video of the entire first song and then put my phone away. Usually there are photographers at medium-big shows anyways, like for the local news rag.
>>130867432You don't understand audience psychology, Anon. Audiences must directly engage with the product to become loyal fans. If people are just going to post that they were there on Instagram as an empty status token, then taking the time to perform for them isn't a solid investment. Especially when it's annoying and disruptive to the people who don't want to take out their phones.
it ruins the experience for the fans who are trying to be immersedit's the equivalent of talking during a movie
>>130867472Maybe if they were recording the whole concert I would agree... But the vast majority of people just take a few short videos and photos. They engage for 99% of the show.
>>130867432Indian hands typed this post.
>>130867432I guess it annoys them to play and people just caring more about recording their performance than to really enjoy it. I once went to a DM concert and as I knew that I probably won't do that again I recorded the beginning of each song, like 30 seconds or so, but after a while I got tired of doing that, stopped doing it and just focused on enjoying the music, singing and dancing and it was the best part of the concert. It's similar to watching a movie with people constantly asking questions, talking about things and eating, you can't concentrate and really connect with the world of the movie. In order to really connect with the music, cinema and art in general you have to concentrate in it.
>>130867485This is just obviously not true. So many concerts you see an expansive sea of phone screens for the entire duration. If this was true you'd only see several blips.
the truth is they just want to keep zoomers awaythink about it, zoomers exclusively consoom music via streaming, for which most artists get paid in pocket fluff and old buttons, plus zoomers have no money anyway. they cant buy vinyl records to frame on the wall or a t shirt etc because theyre condemned to lifelong poverty. their place at that concert could go a to a millennial might have a few extra bucks to spend on the band
>>130867432Filming a concert detracts from the exclusivity of the experience and ruins it for other fans. Zoomers think their phone screens are invisible or something. It's obnoxious.>just ignore my bright glowing recantangle im pointing directly at your face bro like quit being a heckin fascistFuck zoomers. Anti bullying was a mistake.
>>130867546Absolvte fvcking trvke
>>130867546>zoomers exclusively consoom music via streamingI mean, really everyone does. Other than that, this is a trvke post. Cellphone people are simply second class concertgoers for a number of reasons, and the non filmers are more desireable.
>>130867546So when Phoebe Bridgers bans phones... She wants to keep zoomers away? Despite them being the majority of her audience?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GxWmSVv-cYamazing how boomers got through concerts without phones and everyone was fine and ok yet these morons can't go one second without whipping them out
>>130867432kid on these days typa mentality
>>130867432Because if you're recording it you're not actually enjoying it
>>130867670Just by sheer probability (and not ironically) there are people from that same crowd who 49 years later are at concerts and filming them on phone screen. Whatever the age, filming everything on your phone has always been and always be pure cancer
Who does this besides Bpb Dylan?
>>130869687Tool
>>130867461Its about monetization. The reason comedians don't allow phones is because they are constantly working on material and when you're a big act you don't want stuff youre working on leaking until you're finished.
>>130869624Also people make a lot of money off of youtube reels even of mundane things like concerts.
>>130869687Jack White, Ghost, Phoebe Bridgers
>>130867461I find a sea of screens between me and the performer to be very obnoxious
>>130867432If goobers are filming, they aren't rocking out. Which brings the energy level around them down and kills the atmosphere in the room
I've been to small gigs where the audience wouldn't be caught dead phonecording.
>>130869624If you take a few videos you're still enjoying 99% of the concert.
>>130867670dude cars had no airbags and TV had 3 channels back then. why would you want to go back to the Middle Ages?
>>130869687https://youtube.com/watch?v=olJNpcikaeo
>>130867636It's to keep idiots from ruining the experience for others. Only problem is when literally everyone is an idiot and pulls out their iphone, what then?
>>130870615All hacks
If you don't get the urge to record a few videos of your favorite band or take a few pictures of your heros maybe you don't really like them enough
