It's the modern version of cybergrind from the Myspace days. Expected to be amateur and poorly recorded. No skill required, no expensive gear needed, and can be done by yourself in the solitude of your room.
It's not a genre worth getting into if you don't immediately enjoy it.

But precisely because the barrier to entry is so low, the differences in quality are enormous.
A lot of it just sounds like meaningless keyboard noodling, or at best like stock music for some medieval documentary.
But then again, there are also people who really put a lot of effort into the melodies.
