Just a pretty face or more?
>>130876392I swear to God, I could go swimming in those big purty peepers; those ocean-colored irises, goddamn.I must admit, my Maggiemania is beginning to slowly wane, and I'm bracing for disappointment for her upcoming album. Seeing that she's opting for synths, piano and laptop, her new music will probably sound like something off Heard It in a Past Life, my least favorite album of hers. That has maybe four tracks that are distinct with the rest blending into a bland, formless slurry. Yes, Alaska brought her fame and notoriety, but that tune is far from my favorite. https://maggierogers.substack.com/p/somewhere-between-lost-and-rebornSurrender, for me, is her major label magnum opus. The Echo is my other favorite release. Those two albums are her most consistent releases. The others have maybe three or four tracks worth replaying with too many weak moments.

To guide this discussion towards something more productive, this Italian's reviews sum up my feelings succinctly. I obviously rate The Echo higher than he does but both of us agree the magic was gone by the time Pharrell discovered her. Then again, the world wouldn't know Surrender without his plucking her from obscurity:https://www.ondarock.it/recensioni/2012_maggierogers_theecho/https://www.ondarock.it/recensioni/2014_maggierogers_bloodballet/https://www.ondarock.it/recensioni/2017-maggierogers-nowthatthelightisfading/https://www.ondarock.it/recensioni/2019-maggierogers-hearditinapastlife/IMaggie's early Indie Folk/Rock drips with earnestness and innocence. She's not trying to prove to be anything more than a girl from Maryland with a banjo in hand and heart on her sleeve. Both albums serve as farewells to adolescence and confronting the anxieties of entering adulthood. "Satellite" serves as The Echo's emotional centerpiece written at age 17. The song is a slow Chamber Folk ballad about yearning to be free yet seen that crescendos at its lyrical climax, and damn, do those closing lyrics hit hard:>So send me out to space and cut me free>And like a satellite, just look for meBlood Ballet would continue much of those themes, although instead of mourning adolescence, these would confront the first steps of adulthood. The lyrics here, while deeply emotional, are much rawer and unleashed without being scornful. While lacking a strong emotional centerpiece, the album still features lovely tunes like the homage to her high school boyfriend "James" who also happened to play trumpet on "Satellite".All that would be lost by the time Heard It in a Past Life came out, but Surrender is her major label magnum opus. Songs like "Shatter", "Want Want" and "Overdrive" blaze with adrenaline. Other songs like "Anywhere With You" drip with melancholy without being maudlin. Music that inspires building futures or collapsing into into the arms of someone who loves you.

>>130876875Some "people" are just hopelessly lame and uninteresting. Probably why that "person" is so obsessed with this equally lame musical "artist."
>>130876875He is literally autistic though that doesn't explain why he's also a fat 40 year old virgin still living with his mom. Dude is just lame.
>>130877170>>130877245SEETHING
>>130877170>this equally lame musical "artist."that's the real head scratcher for me, like i could almost understand being obsessed with the beatles or tool or whatever, and even the degenerate kpop coomer bronies make some sense, but maggie is just definitionally mid in every way
Tell me, if Nino is so pathetic, why do you keep replying to him?
