Have you guys seen this?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ba4fW0mXh_w

Mastodon's farewell letter to Brent Hinds and his difficult, alcoholism fueled persona that eventually led to him getting fired from the band and probably his alcohol fueled accident that led to his death.

Its a very raw, eye-openign and honest video. Ive never seen anything like it. Everyone who ever dealt with an alcoholic should watch this. Guy was the most genius guitar player of his generation.
>>
He loved Flying Vs, so he will always be cool in my book.
>>
>hear about mastodon
>is le awesome
>give it a listen
>is unlistenable shite
never change /tv/

>died because he was a dumb alcoholic who decided to get drunk and ride around recklessly on his motorcycle thinking he was invincible like the irresponsible drunk retard he is
Any time someone gets tattoos on their face they should be considered a lost cause.

No shit sherlock, he had demons. Some speculate his head injury even made it worse.
>>
>>130878968
they killed him
>>
Seems weird to me for them to be saying anything nasty about the guy less than a year after his death… does Bill even say anything nice about him in this?
>>
>>130878968
I'm glad he's dead
>>
>>130878968
Hinds was very obviously a drunken psychopath and I'm amazed he didn't die WAY faster.
>>
>>130882317
What do you meannasty? They adress that its impossible to work with an alcoholic, i had onein my band. Impossible. They also adress that Blood Mountian and Crack The Sky were mainly his creative doing.

when they compare his playing in blood mountain to crack the skye back to back... this guy was a generational talent what the fuck
>>
>>130878968
>snake hipsters talking shit on a dead man who can no longer defend himself

These bitch faggots have no honor, no balls, and aren't men. They just want the gravy train to keep rolling because they know how badly that dude's early death reflects on them as human beings after they fired the motherfucker like they did. He was hot pissed about how they did it and now they want to rewrite history so they aren't remembered as the bad guys and the dead man has no say in it because he's gone.

I don't even give a fuck about Faggstodon but these dudes are acting like shitty women.
>>
>>130884560
Basically this. They killed him by firing him like they did and now they're saving face with this disgusting expose. I hope his family sues them into obscurity.
>>
>>130884560
they just wanted brent to be boring mom dads like they were and he told them to go eat shit so they fired him. classy move mastodongs
>>
>>130878968
I don't doubt Hinds was often a shithead and a drunk but fucking hell what kind of twats make a video about a deceased individual after that individual was on social media blasting them for months after his firing? He clearly felt betrayed and was hurt by it, anyone with any common sense would just leave it alone and shut the fuck up. The fact that they feel the need to do this and can somehow justify doing it in their minds says all kinds of bad shit about them personally. What a bunch of turds.

Time to find a speech therapist
You weren't one of those special ed kids who had a paraprofessional take you to a "special room" in the middle of math class while the other kids snickered in high school now were you?
>>
>>130884606
>They killed him by firing him
not the band's fault. that's like saying me calling you an idiot on 4chan and you deciding to kill yourself is my fault, lol.
>>
>>130878968
He just didn't want to play metal anymore, in that aspect he was the most mature guy in the band, doing the chuggy chuggy growl stuff when you are in your 50s is a bit embarrassing. Besides their best album is Crack the Skye and it was the most ''proggy'' and least metal of their releases and written almost entirely by Hinds as far as I understand
>>
>>130886177
Even those douchebags in their cute little character assassination piece have to give him full credit for CTS
>>
I liked their earlier albums but I haven't enjoyed listening to anything they've made in a decade + I can't feel bad for anyone that dies from drunk driving.
>>
>>130886241
Crack the Skye was basically the logical conclusion to their sound so everything else was pointless
>>
I really don't know why people say the video was a character assassination, they clearly loved him and wanted to make up with him but it was clear he was getting harder to work with
>>
>>130884606
Fuck off with your black & white, zero-nuance look of the world. They obviously loved him and are filled with regret with how they didn't get to make up with him.
>>
>>130878968
Better than the Greep? I find that difficult to believe
>>
>>130878968
I have tried and tried to get into Mastodon but their singer(s) all sound as if a drunk guy was yelling into a megaphone that was about to run out of power.
They have really catchy and nice sounding riffs but the moment their singer(s) start making noises I just check out and skip.
Also having three lead singers who cannot sing is stupid.
>>
>>130879715
The funny thing is the bitch soccer mom who flattened him with her BMW was at fault.
For once the alcoholic junkie was not the guilty party. Regardless, whoever is at fault when it's car vs. bike the car always wins.

Brann sounds good a lot of the time and he contrasts nicely with Brent on a couple songs. But i agree, the vocals in metal are usually the weakest part

Crack the Skye is so fucking good I can't believe it. Haven't watched the video but If it was Brent's album then he's really a legend of guitar and composition.
>>
>>130887623
>as if a drunk guy was yelling into a megaphone that was about to run out of pow
shut your mouth you little pissant. brent had one of the most unique voices in metal. i guarantee even in death he mogs whatever limpwristed faggot singer of an impotent indie band you call your favorite.

nigga are you serious?
>>
>>130888373
Their vocals are fucking processed and hide behind tons of reverb on the recordings.
Live they sound like absolute dogass, only their drummer is somewhat audible. Troy always sounds like he's at the absolute limit of his voice and Brent sound flat-out drunk with a mouth full of food, when he's not taking a puff off a cigarette.
>>
>>130886371
The Cold Dark Place EP is legitmately great. CtS is my favourite, but like you, Ive barely returned to any of the albums post Skye. Even the last one, listened to it once and never again
>>
>>130878968
as difficult as it might have been to work with brent, seems like it was on them to keep dragging him around. clearly after crack the skye, they had reached a level of success where they were more doing it for their livelihood than they were for the "music" - brent wanted to live the rockstar life but the other guys kind of moved past that. it seems like they were so committed to "the band" that they couldn't afford to take time off the road/producing another album. they wanted brent to stay because he would "redeem" himself, but that kinda just seems like guilt tripping someone who they know is not invested in the way they were. personally, if they had taken off more time between crack the skye and emperor of sand, i wouldn't have been mad since the hunter and once more round the sun didn't stick out in the way the other albums did; the four years between emperor of sand and hushed and grim was the longest they had ever gone between albums. ultimately, brent finally leaving seemed for the best and given enough time, a reunion would have been amazing.
