I have known of this band since my teenage years in the 90s but never started listening to them until this year.

What gives them their audible aura for you?

>>
Tool is shit.
I don't understand why so many people shit themselves for this soft rock dronefest.

WHY DON'T YOU KIDS LIKE THE TOOL??
>>
>>130881034
It's pretty simple anon, what song, or style of song, makes them so good, makes them stand out from other bands.

>>130881047
About as constructive as a zoomer's life skills.

>>130881050
Prog-metal mixed with ballads with meaning, they are far from soft rock.
>>
>>130881071
lol what are you talking about bro tool is totally soft rock, they sound just like seals & crofts
>>
I love TOOL so much I don't care if they aren't prog elitists or fucking whatever they sound good and at the end of the day thats what matters
For me, it's Lost Keys + Rosetta Stoned in succession as it should always be heard
>>
>>130881071
lateralus is still their high water mark for me. "the grudge," "parabol/parabola," the last minute of "ticks and leeches," and even "triad" are all peak tool
>>
>>130881071
>tool
>metal

Their dynamics. Bands usually have a space where they can absolutely rip, be that hard or soft, and the opposite dynamic they only play because they have to to compliment the aforementioned ripping dynamic and you can tell. That could be in one song or across an album. For a song example I think H and Schism are great examples of this within one song. Additionally, the drumming is very tribal and I love that shit.

industry plants that took themselves seriously and get pissed when you tell them they are industry plants.
had one (1) good song called "sober" which even predated the existence of the "band". their sound is a demonstration of gear from the local guitar center.
>>
>>130881021
HEH ya gotta be a be a fool to listen to tool! OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH!
>>
>>130884420
How are they industry plants
>>
Tool has this weird gift to bring out some of the most retarded mother fuckers who like them and hate them. It's really amazing to be honest.
>>
>>130885096
they played like 5 shows and got onto lollapalooza main stage and blew up fast
Maynard and Adam had been working in show biz in LA for quite a while
I think "industry plants" is harsh but it's hard to imagine their success was 100% organic
I say this all as a fan since I first heard Schism on MTV2
>>
>>130885096
>All you know about me is what I've sold ya, dumb fuck
I sold out long before you'd ever even heard my name
I sold my soul to make a record, dipshit
And then you bought one

>singer is a military spook and a jew
>drummer is a freemason and thelemite who shitposts "33" as much as he can
>they officially announced covid and the clotshot
>>130889394
also this
>>
>>130889736
Maynard is Jewish? news to me
I read in an interview once that he said "if you don't believe in magic you're not much of an artist" so if magic is real (if) i'm sure him and Danny pouring intention into it helped them out
It doesn't hurt of course that the music is generally good
>>
>>130889736
MJK isn't Jewish at all. Just look at him. Military, yes 100%. Drummer is into scared geometry and your "33" thing, I assume, is because of his Larry Bird basketball jersey he wears sometimes? He's a huge basketball fan (season tixs to Lakers) and wears a basketball jersey of the pro team or college that is near where the area they are playing.

I don’t think that song is saying they’re industry plants though. Maybe whoring themselves to record labels but what else is new. It’s not like you need corporate persuasion to like Tool’s music, and I’m not really sure why the industry would want to push a band with this kind of message. Justin Bieber is an industry plant, not tool ffs
>>
If Tool was an industry plant, they would have pumped out double the albums and sure as hell wouldn't have had a 15 year interval between albums.

Listening to tool after a brain exploding psych trip is a next level experience
