Nickelback gets a goofy amount of hate, mostly because they became the punching bag for "corporate rock" in the 2000s. But if you actually listen without the meme filter on, they're solid. Chad Kroeger has a distinctive raspy voice that works great for choruses, and they write ridiculously catchy hooks. It's straightforward,post-grunge/alternative rock. Some undeniable bangers like How You Remind Me. Peak early 2000s.
Photograph - Nostalgia weaponized.
Far Away, Rockstar, Animals, Savin' Me, Figured You Out – all tight.
They sold like 50 million records for a reason. People actually liked them in the wild before reddit decided it was cool to hate them. It's the same reason people bump Creed or 3 Doors Down but won't admit.

2000s Eagles I guess. Hero is a great song too but when I look it up on streaming platforms it's a Kroeger solo track.

Nickelback would be forgotten nowadays if they weren't so overplayed ar the time and if there weren't 20 other equally overplayed post-grunge bands who sounded exactly like them. They weren't only hated for their own music, they were also viewed as the genesis of other slop like Theory of a Deadman, Hinder, Daughtry, Three Days Grace, etc. who people also got tired of hearing.
>They sold like 50 million records for a reason.
Shit attracts flies.
>It's the same reason people bump Creed or 3 Doors Down but won't admit.
Kryptonite is a legtimately good song, I'll give 3 Doors Down that.
>>
(((They))) had to sacrifice their own creations (Nickleback, Creed, et al) to usher in Obama and rap music around 2008. Thank God that phase has finally come to an end, but they haven't really replaced it with anything.

How You Remind Me is genuinely good but most of their shit is miserable buttrock. Same story as Foo Fighters really who also have like one good song but aside from that they are boring and lame. These kind of vocals suck balls btw, it's like they are trying to be a more sanitized, streamlined Kurt Cobain but they got none of the genuine spirit and angst he had, they just copy how his singing sounds on the surface.

>How You Remind Me is genuinely good
It might have been okay, maybe, if they didn't go on to slightly rewrite it and release it as a "new" single every time they shat out another album. Someday and Savin' Me were damn near the exact same song.
To be honest, if there's one "you have to hand it to them" song in their catalog, it's probably Leader of Men or Breathe. They weren't so overproduced back then and Kroeger at least attempted to put some emotion into his performance.
>These kind of vocals suck balls btw, it's like they are trying to be a more sanitized, streamlined Kurt Cobain
No, it's pure Eddie Vedder worship. Kroeger isn't as bad with the yarling as, say, Stapp or Rob Thomas or Vedder himself, but that's where the strained clenching-out-a-turd voice that every post-grunge frontman had came from.
>>
I don't hear much of a difference between Pearl Jam and Nickelback.
>>
Chad Kroeger's voice was too pop, the music too overprodduced.
>>
>Chad Kroeger has a distinctive raspy voice

That is the worst part of every Nickelback song.
>>
>>130886166
I wish. His voice is the sound of a gorilla sodomizing a trashcan.
>>
>>130885578
It makes asbolutely zero sense to hate on Nickelback and then go and praise the likes of Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo. Zero.
>>
>>130887108
I know, they all suck
>>
>>130885902
The fact you say How Remind Me is there only good song shows how clueless you are. How You Remind Me is why they got hate in the first place. But now it's trendy to praise how you remind me. All their songs are good. And you only don't like the others because you havent bothered to listen to them enough for them to grow on you. So it all blends together as one. People like you are so full of shit.

I fully admit to being a zoomer who wasn't around back then to know how people viewed it then and I never really got into grunge beyond Nirvana. Still I tried to listen to them and my conclusion is that they are a dogshit band with only one song that is good (notice how I say "good" and not "I like it"). If I'm talking about them trying to do Kurt Cobain vocals and you tell me I'm wrong then I'll immediately believe you because wtf do I know really. But don't tell me they don't fucking suck anon, no matter how much of a clueless zoomer am, I am not deaf. I know what shit looks like, I know what shit smells like, I know what shit sounds like.

You're a zoomie so you don't actually. Stop posting.

bruh
>>
>>130885578
they're inoffensive radio rock for the era, "solid" is giving them too much credit.
>>
>>130885578
This idiotic zoomer revisionism on lame things from the past is just tiresome. Post-grunge and nu metal were always manufactured, lame shit.

>2000s Eagles
the eagles invented modern day rock. go back and look at rock before the eagles then afterwards.

this is what always makes me laugh. bands that sell crazy amounts of music but mysteriously get no love online. are people lying? is there that big of a disconnect between the record buying public and online faggots?
>>
>>130889777
no they had a lot of rock hits that are no way pop music.
