Peppino di Capri died yesterday on Capri island. 87 years old. Seven decades of career. Dude literally helped introduce rock n roll and twist to Italy in the 50s-60s. Won Sanremo twice. His version of Lets Twist Again was #1 in Italy for 32 consecutive weeks. When they brought his coffin to the church the whole island of Capri literally stopped. Bars in the famous Piazzetta removed their tables. Crowds outside following a big screen. Mayor declared day of mourning. Even Bach's Air on the G String played as the coffin entered.They chanted 'Peppino' in the town hall.Post a tribute. RIP to a real one.
