Mostly an 80s thing (although I there is 2 newer tracks in my examples, but those artists were aiming
for a revival sound). It's an eerie yet summery kind of feel. Seems like a particular niche that existed at the time, but I lack the vocabulary to explain it. Any albums or whatever you guys can rec with a similar sound? Or even just if anyone else gets what I mean?

the thread title made me think of that one immediately. I think sometimes lyrics can go so hard on symbolism and imagery of isolation and loneliness and intense longing that it can border on feeling almost sinister, while the cadence of the song keeps up an urgency that creates this subtle tension or stress bubbling just below the surface.
