>>130925584No way. CW had some fun throwaway dittys on it, but when it tried to get serious (ie Light Behind Your Eyes, World is Ugly, etc), it overdosed it on the schmaltz. Even in it's unpolished state TPK mogs in terms of sonic evolution and thematic maturity. No really obvious singles/catchy tracks though, I will say that. But as someone who doesn't care about that stuff that's not a detraction for me at all. I also like a lot of lo-fi stuff generally, so the lack of polish has it's scuzzy charm. I can see why they would've been uncomfortable releasing it though, given the themes. It's a real shame it didn't get a proper chance however: dark misery-guts MCR is peak MCR.I can see the average MCR fan circa 2012/13 not getting it however. Likely would've bombed but got a critical revaluation a little later.
