Can yous share some songs that make you feel nostalgic for a simpler time, before all the responsibilities and worries of adulthood? I'm thinking of the kind of nostalgia that takes you back to childhood or carefree days or just better days in general

well since we're already in a gay sentimental thread here's a dumb story
there was a tune my dad got on the new defunct mp3.com more than 20 years ago and he'd put it on in the car around that time. it's great for driving
eventually he moved on from that song from listening to it too much and i didn't hear it since. a few years later i'm a teen discovering dream theater and i'm blown away by the first album. then i listen to the other albums and realize they kind of sucked. after some digging it turns out their secret weapon was a guy named kevin moore, who had left the band after the first few albums, which were the good ones. so i decide to listen to his project "chroma key" and there's this song in it that switches key to what i think is parallel minor in the chorus. that switch hits me like a left hook when i realize it was the old song. kind of like marcel tasting the madeleine. i think music is the closest thing to time travel we have.

This entire album. I dropped out of jr high because I was getting bullied a lot, went and got my GED, would listen to chunks of it while I smoked cigarettes before class, during break and after. It was so peaceful getting through everything with people trying to annoy you or piss you off. I missed all the social interaction I would have got in high school, but I don't think it would have been that different.

Sounds like a very typical American teenager experience. At least you didn't end up shooting a bunch of people
